Description
Aaron awoke to someone knocking on his chamber door. With a groan he rolled onto his back, wincing in pain as the pressure on his bullet wounds changed."Enter!" he called hoarsely.
Alajandra came in and closed the door. A look of worry came over her as her eyes fell on Aaron's wounds.
"Silver?"she asked fushing over to the bed.
Aaron nodded. "That vampire was a decent shot. My entire body hurts and the wounds still bleed. The concentration of silver was higher than normal."
"Did you get all of the bullets our? We can't afford to loose you sir."
"Yes I removed all twelve bullets. The vampires are now monitoring the situation in town. Tell the rest of the pack to stay away from the city. We don't need to start a war."
Alajandra nodded. "Can I check your wounds and clean them if they need it?"
"You may,"Aaron gave his permission.
Alajandra left the room to get a bowl of warm water and bandages. Aaron struggled to sit up, pain shooting through his body like an unpleasant drug. Upon her return, Alajandra began checking and cleaning Aaron's wounds. Carefully she bandaged the wounds and sat up to look at her handy work.
"You look like a mummy. You're very lucky that none of your vital organs were punctured. The damage was caused more by silver than the fact that you were shot,"Alajandra said affectionately.
"Well at least I survived. Zane must be made to reamin at the den, he is too reckless to be allowed to hunt. I don't need any more of my pack out of comission. Until I'm back to full strength, you're in charge."
Alajandra was shocked. Aaron had never put her in charge even when he was injured. She was honnored but surprised.
"Are you sure? THere are others who are better suited for the job,"she asked breathlessly.
"You are my second in command, you're more than capable to be in charge of the pack."
Alajandra knew she couldn't get out of this responsability. With a sigh, she stood up and walked towards the door. The look in Aaron's big brown eyes told her that he was a hundred percent confident in her ability to look after the pack while he healed.
"Alajandra, could you get Mike to bring up some moose tracks ice cream?"
She nodded and left the room.
Aaron sighed. He wasn't surprised that Alajandra didn't think she could look after things, infact if she hadn't objected he would've been worried. She had a kind heart and he knew she would do the job well.
"Sir, you asked for ice cream,"Mike said entering the room with a serving tray.
"Thank you Mike,"Aaron said taking the tray and dismissing him.
Aaron ate his ice cream, saving the peanut butter cups for last. He kept thinking about the vampire who had shot him and the human boy who got away.
