Description The garage now sat like a gaping wound open to the still night air.  An angry moon hung overhead in the humid summer sky.  Its pale light barely luminescent enough to give shape to this nighttime realm.

A pregnant pause would be the best way to describe this moment in time, a moment in which the whole world seem so deathly still and indifferent.

Melted wax gleamed on the charred cement inside the ruined garage.  It had the look of boiled blood, red smeared with ash.  A strange vapor hung above the floor, almost as if it was reaching up and out of the cement in protest.  A moan cracked the stillness and the air grew heavy and the moonlight no longer lit the doorway.  Something was moving, lurking.  A shadow within a shadow.  It oozed as manifested  sludge giving form to different shapes as it coalesced.  A Skeletal structure wrapped over and over tight and bound enhancing every cut, every muscular curve till this retching thing stood and gazed into the night with yellow blood stained eyes.  A scream went forth from its mouth, so empty so longing it pierced the silent world about it.

A cat scurried away knocking over some garbage cans running low to the ground as it hissed at the manifestation that stood now born to this world.
It stopped briefly and almost as if it was crying it started to look itself over.  Its reddish b lack frame could almost pass for human.  Its face skullish and drawn lacked any sense of emotion except the permanent grin of its gnashing teeth.

Again it gave out this hollow scream and a pair of wings unfolded from its back and stretch open giving lift to this monster.  Each flap seemed to chill the hot air, it flap seemed to speak with an empty sound of

A small piece of gold fell as it ascending and hit the cement below with a frail clink.  It spun momentarily like a coin and slowly settled to the ground.  It was engraved with something... like a memory from long ago.

To my darling husband Steve.

The thing continued to rise into the air, its cries slowly fading as a crimson glow lit the distant horizon.  The Crickets and tree frogs finally seemed to wake from the stillness, their rhapsody echoing the same sound of the wings.
