This is one from a shoot I did ages ago and I'd forgotten about it
Shot with a ring flash + a tweak in Photoshop to make it look bright & burnt

yeah, a cheap-o one.
For my serious work I sometimes rent a Broncolor 3200J one and a pack from Baltronics, but the cheap-o one is still OK for day-to-day use.
I love the zing it gives

The output power has only about a range of 2 stops or so, and can be quite inconsistent between pops unless you let it recycle completely, but still fit for duty
Also, it really needs a better diffuser - I plan to make one from aluminium mixing bowls one day
