Oh hey look, a more proportionate ref for my OC/knightsona Haebaddon, and -- ... Haebaddon, how're you drinking that thing through that metal?

Haebaddon: Because FUCK LOGIC, buddy!

Haebaddon: You'd be surprised what makes a good weapon when you're being mugged at a fish market!

... You get mugged? Uh, whatever, but... what's with the tutu and bow?

Haebaddon: Because uh... ...What? Can't a knight feel pretty once in a while?!

Aside from that embarrassing bit of dialogue, I figured it was time to whip a proper ref for this dude. Yeeeeeah... I suck at designing armor and knight-like characters. OTL Then again I didn't want him to be too loaded on armor.

And yes, he is this silly. And brave. And just... hard to take seriously. 8D

And hey, I've finally made a backstory for him! Be prepared though: This is a bit of a doozy.

Haebaddon (birth name being Colden Searl) was born into a middle class family in a hard-working community that was also a well-known and highly diverse trade center. The city, which was located near a port, a forest and even near mountains, had a wide variety of resources that is what gave the civilization it's respected and reliable reputation. Because of this, the city is also on high guard every day to defend against rogues and thieves that would try to sneak in and steal or even pillage the revered settlement for its goods, guarded by knights, watchmen, snipers, and even those who have studied arts of elemental manipulation, such as pyrokinetics and terrakinetics. Everyone was encouraged to do their part in supporting the community, and when children were old enough, they were allowed to help in some tasks such as fishing and farming.

Colden was born in a time when the need for city watchmen and protectors were on high demand due to a particularly devastating pillaging incident that took place after the city's years of peace let everyone's guard down, suffering dents to their reputation as a good resource center and a reliably safe community. Colden's parents, a father who is a knight and a mother who is a cleric as well as an aquakinetic (manipulator of water) felt as if they could raise their son into becoming a guard, subjecting the child to early training and leaving just barely enough room for playtime so he doesn't become too stressed. Colden did, admittedly, look up to the city guards as very admirable and brave people, as most kids at his age back then did due to their looks and their rep. When not under training, or when he's unable to sleep at night, Colden would spend most of his time reading graphic novels and comics about heroes and vigilantes that sought to protect the people on their own, making him a very eager and confrontational child. The longer he stayed in training, the more he felt as if he was becoming the same fictional characters and watchmen that he looked up to.

After Colden became enlisted as an official guard in his young 20s, he realized how much of a childhood he lacked. His combat practice and strict duty has made him a little dull and empty, and watching those younger than him that didn't have as busy a schedule at his age out playing and enjoying themselves has made him feel envious. The more often he reflected this, the more disappointed he became when he realized his dream of defending the citizens isn't all he imagined it would be like. Nevertheless, he kept his head strong and high as he watched over the city with his watchmen brethren for a few months, and for a while, he did very well.

One night, however, there came another unexpected incident that hit the city. A small, shady group of conspirators that had worked within the city had plotted to ravage the town from the inside through the use of tools and trained hunting animals the very city uses for their work. Colden wasn't prepared for this underhanded scheme, and when he tried to leap to the cause on his own, it rendered him physically and mentally scarred, being beaten and slashed to the point of near death. The traumatic experience of nearly succumbing to conspiracy that resulted was dire, especially when he heard of other soldiers being threatened and even nearly assassinated for just trying to defend their home. This vulnerable feeling left him shaking, and he pleaded to his superiors to learn a sort of kinetic to protect himself more efficiently in case something like this happens again. After a few weeks of stubborn rejection and heavy thought, the officials of the guard brigade hesitantly consented to Colden's wishes. They decided, since his duty takes place at night, they would allow him a very rare form of kinesis; umbrakinesis, the ability to warp absence of light.

He studied this form of kinesis with care and precision, using it to raise barriers of solidified shadow around himself as he anxiously guarded the city. Unfortunately, as he grew older with this technique, so did his fears and paranoia. He became TOO attached to umbrakinesis as a means of protecting himself, and his actions have become more snappish and unwieldy. The officials took note of this and were quick to act on it. Realizing this mental issue with Colden, they subjected him to carefully applied electro-shock therapy. Fortunately, the therapy worked, as it made him bright, chipper and alert, but thanks to him being so caught up in comics and heroic stories and other media where heroes are known as a child, it affected his rational thought, which lead him to believing he really is a knight... a knight that's meant to protect the people and others that he passes by, despite still being stuck on guard duty.

After a week since the therapy had passed, he grew bored of being bound to the rules, leading him to flee the scene and steal some armor from a professional smithing shop and decided to set out for his own, evading authorities and other official figures looking to bring him in for his unexpected actions. When he had the chance, he picked up an old comic of his from his house and reread it for his amusement every now and then, and then realized he needed a new name for his new lease on life. He read of a dark avenger, known as Haebaddon, who left darkness and the blood of his victims in his wake when he pulled through a particularly nasty crime. Inspired, Colden adopted this name as his own, now known as aforementioned fictional character. Feeling like he's set, Haebaddon wanders out on his own, doing his best to stop crime, desiring to stop big crime bosses and shady conspirators, including the ones who have left him a paranoid mess.

Haebaddon is a very silly and quirky vigilante of sorts. He has a remarkably cheery and optimistic personality despite his looks, and thanks to his past hobbies of killing time through reading comics and watching movies to relieve his stress from practice as a kid and teenager, he tends to make references to movies, comics and even some games during his dialogue. Most of the time this tends to either fly over others' heads or he leaves them stunned by how stupid or weird he sounds, which tends to work in Haebaddon's favor whenever he fights crime.

His studies of umbrakinesis have been retained after therapy. The electroshock therapy has drastically sharpened his mind and unclogged something that has prevented him from focusing on the dark technique to higher levels, thanks to him getting over his anxiety. He uses his umbrakinesis mostly for defense, such as to create shields, but he has ways of using it offensively as well, such as raising spikes or blades from his own shadow to strike his foes. There are drawbacks to this, however; Umbrakineses has a small delay when performing even with his sharpened focus since the incident. This means in order to pull off what he needs to do just right, Haebaddon needs to do a little anticipating, and sometimes his anticipations are wrong, which either leaves him wide open, or he reveals his technique too soon to his enemies and they tend to catch on. This, coupled with his short attention span and his impatience, it ends up getting him in a lot more trouble rather than getting him out of it. Another, more obvious drawback is if there is little shadow to work with (such as being surrounded by light), Haebaddon's powers of umbrakinesis will be severely limited or be rendered flat out unusable, meaning he'll have to resort to using his brute force and self-defensive tactics from his guarding days to attack.

His flaws are that he has trouble staying on topic, has limited patience, and tends to be oblivious to others' troubles and emotions when he's at his most childish. Not to mention he's also not the brightest crime-fighter there is, but he's not really legitimately stupid as he is reckless, responding through heart and muscle instead of thinking things through first. He also has a strange, irrational hatred for mullets, but not in the traditional repulsed way. He expresses his hatred by literally just beating them up and pounding them, but it wasn't until he's considered them a weapon and a useful item when he was approached by thugs. He didn't managed to knock them unconscious with the mullet, but did leave a nasty scent on them when they retreated, which ended in their arrest when their noticeable smell trailed. With this revelation, he loves to use large smelly spoiled food, especially seafood, to smack enemies around with when he doesn't feel like finishing them off himself; leaving such a scent gives him (or others) a chance to track evildoers again.

However, this doesn't mean Haebaddon uses only non-traditional weapons. If he gets a hold of a new weapon, unless it's something very complex such as a laser, he'll get the hang of using it relatively quickly. This is useful, seeing as how his umbrakinesis may not be swift enough to serve him well due to somewhat sticky delay it has, not to mention he can't use his umbrakinesis for long-range shooting or other long-range attacks. This is why he prefers to use weapons to attack rather than his umbrakinesis; there's no delay.

Haebaddon also tends to get a lot of flack for not only for his theft, irrational behavior and looking like a typical dark knight, but also for being an umbrakinetic. Most people see him as a trooper of darkness or even a villain, and it usually takes a whole lot of good-doing and crime-stopping in order for Haebaddon to prove he's not really a bad guy, but rather a vigilante. Even so, Haebaddon doesn't seem to mind or care for the most part if people get skeptic of him. It DOES get on his nerves when he's actively sought after for looking like a villain though, since he's really trying to do whatever he can to defend the people, even if it's by his own 'rules.' When he's pushed to the edge about his looks, he tends to be very grudging, merely standing off to the side if he sees another crime going on and others ask for help, and he responds by saying things such as:

"Oh no, don't look at me, I'm the evil dark knight, remember? I'm probably working with them! Forget the fact that I tried to, y'know, HELP YOU JERKS before! I'm clearly a bad guy!"

... and the like. Yes, he is very immature this way, but it takes a lot for him to reach this sort of grudge, so such scenarios are very rare. He really does want to prove his use, and can't help but get miffed when someone doesn't take him seriously when he actually means business for once.
