I saw them -
infected streetlights
hemming them in like white
blood cells...or cell blocks
All those lights I used
to think were pretty - but now
incalculable in temperature to exposed bone
The city sucks their marrow
down
down
scraping them until their skulls
cannot form a grin
Spare them please
a something...
... I know not even what
to them
who lost their skin and homes

Hmmmm. You write something tricky to ponder. I see the insect drawn in by the light, seeing bliss that ends up being its end.
I see the coldness of urban life, wearing down all who are part of it. Scraping that grin away.
Either view paints a dreary picture.

It's striking to visit (Seattle/Tacoma for me) cities and low-income areas therein. I also understand nobody can really do a whole epic ton to help, but maybe small helps are precious...I guess I left on a ellipsis with this because it leaves a person at a loss.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and feedback once again <3

Ah. I have a dear friend from Tacoma and her family is struggling to get by. Indeed, it leaves me at a loss for all I can do is hope for the best.

She does her best, though. She never gives up.
