I can feel it lurking,
Smirking,
Searching,
For one thing.

To bring me down,
To drown me in,
My own sins cloud.

It's teeth are gnashing,
Gashing my skin,
And yet, all I can do is grin.

Am I unwell
Only time will tell
As the seconds drain i fail

It's searching,
Smirking,
Laughing,
Draining.

From within,
I saw it begin,
The darkness settles in.

What can I do but laugh,
As I fight back,
Knowing it is a hopless attack?

Stand with me in my mind.
You will see the monster climb.
And wrap it's body around me in kind.

Stand with me on the edge.
As my breath begins to dredge.
The bottoms of a thorny hedge.

But I stand to it.
Drumming my lonely beat,
With the sounds of it's feet.
Even though I know the taste of defeat.

For I will not give it heed,
This darkness harkens to greed,
And I know it is but a demons seed.
