Description
The first thing I felt when I woke up was the cold. Not the typical cold I'm used to living out in the wilderness, but the cold of metal. When I started to push up, I heard a faint click sound and let out a breath. It was a pressurized switch. I cleared my mind like my leader had taught me and pushed to feel for what was around me. The air tubes that it activated were about two inches above me; I decided then to push with all my might mentally. I felt myself reach into the tubes as I pushed up but found nothing in there.'very strange' I thought to myself.
I pushed off and all I heard was air rush through the tubes. I looked around and saw a two way mirror in front of me and a dead security camera the room looked like it was on white fire because of the lights. I wished I had my katana. It was stupid of me to leave it at the base but I thought I was only going to be gone for a few minutes, who was I to kid?
"I see you're awake subject 23998." A cold metallic voice said from an unseen speaker. I recognized it.
"It's Ducain now sir." I said in a defiant voice. I was not going to fall for this again; not ever. I had worked too hard and too long to get away from this man to be here again.
I started to breathe evenly and reach out with my senses. I got beyond the wall with them and something kicked the inside of my skull. I braced for impact. So he had worked out his security again. Fine by me
"No, you will always be two-three-nine-nine-eight to me. My success, and yet, my failure" he said again
I didn't answer him, didn't need to rise to his bait. I started to think back, before now, trying to remember a happy time in my life. That had been 17 years ago when I was just a grunt in the military. They had suggested I volunteer for an experiment because I seemed to be prime material. Had I known then what I knew now, of course I would of said no. But this was the US military, and I was as green as could be, and willing to please. The experiment they did had something to do with opening up parts of our brains. They wanted to try psycho warfare again, and who could blame them. The Chinese were working on splicing genes, the Russians were rumored to have successfully made a person able to shapeshift, the Japanese were as always trying to perfect AI at the time. Strangely that wasn't what lead to the world we live in now. No, the world we live in now was due to a dumb mistake with nuclear arms. I'm a little fuzzy on it, my partner Lobisk could tell you more I'm sure, but me I'm more concerned with just trying to stay alive in the Cross, what was formerly known as the United States, technically still is though it's more disjointed than it was back in 2010. That was history though and here I am stuck in a room thinking about that instead of a way to get out, what a dreamer.
The door in front of me opened and a voice said "Come we have much to discuss nine-nine-eight"

I like it, nice idea. There is a lot of cliche about super soldier type people and the future (I myself am guilty for this) but never think that reason to not continue. You'll always have a gripping auidence who wants to read.

Tinkering is always good. I change my ideas a lot before I find something stable I can work with. I think you have the basis for something truely great here, so please keep on tinkering!
