The beautiful and VERY brave Brooke, a.k.a. agreed to let me butcher her image with my pastels. Here is the original photo [link]Of course I’m never happy with my work but I rushed the hair on the right and it shows. I also didn’t do that great of a job capturing the light source from behind. It looks like she had a dye job that went horribly wrong.
I used some new pastel paper too and wasn’t very impressed with it. The craft paper I was using did a better job of grabbing onto the chalk – unfortunately it isn’t acid free so I can’t keep using it.

Very nice drawing. She look quite realistic and detailed. One strand of her hair is longer than all the others.

wow. that was fast. Only complaint I have is... ok 2.... no window which would of made the hair pop more and you deleted my favorite necklace!! haha

Ha-ha, you’re right about the window, but I’m not ready for backgrounds just yet.
And I FORGOT the necklace! Oops.

I put in the necklace and started to think about the background. But the hair on the right was still bugging me. With the first stroke the pastel stick crumbled. (Hate getting pastels through the mail – they are beat to death by the time they arrive.) Anyway, a dark brown clump landed right on your chest. I tried to remove it and ended up smearing it instead.
Argh!
SO then I reworked your chest and shoulders… but then your neck and face were the wrong shades. You can see where this is going…
Needless to say, every new stroke caused the need to rework another area. In the end I did manage to make you look like the Bride of Frankenstein after all. 
Well, at least I took this photo first.

Oh well, at least I did get to practice drawing you and that was the point.
