I haven’t posted any new portraits in a few days and I didn’t want you all to think I was being a bum. My sister owns the art gallery that I work out of and she did a window display of my first pastels as well as a couple of pencil drawings. The customer that brought us the poster of Evangeline Lilly to frame allowed us to keep it for the display so customers could see the reference photo I used. The baby is a Christmas present I did for friends out of town. And the badge is pencil work of a state trooper badge.
I know it’s a pretty gutsy move to hang out a shingle after only two pastels under my belt, but I’m letting the customer know what to expect by showing them the window display. And it doesn’t hurt that my sister is the greatest salesperson alive!
The display has already netted six jobs – half of which I’ve done. I’ve asked permission from each person to let me post the work on this site, but so far no one has. It may be because they are afraid their Christmas gift will be found out somehow, or it could be they don’t want their faces posted on the internet – either way I have to respect their wishes.

Oh, if you are looking for extra holiday cash think about doing up some police and firefighter badges. Make sure to get photos of the badge they are currently carrying first as these guys want it to be THEIR badge and not some generic one. Leave the number blank so you can finish it with their number! I sell A LOT of these at Christmas time!
