Description Saix puppy and Xemmy puppy look so cute! And the first time in color from me! X3 LOL!

Today's project that I've been working on since last night... You know that depression attack I mentioned in my journal ([link] )?

Well... Talked with Xem on MSN for a bit about some of my troubles. And at the end of the conversation, she said that she'll always be there to listen. <3 And this just came to mind! And wouldn't leave my mind till I drew it! Good thing I did too.

Why I used Xemnas and Saix in dog form, I have no idea, but that's how I was thinking it! hehee

I also have no idea what the faint-pinkish spots are, but they're supposed to be like petals floating in the wind or something.

And the background's kinda cheesy, but be grateful since I rarely put backgrounds in... X3 Long live the ZemuSaiku colors, grey and blue!

So, yeah... My little "thankies" piece to mah Xem for everything's she's said and giving me the sense that she'll always be there for me. I love you and hope you know that I'll always be there for you too no matter what and whenever you need me, hun!

EDIT - OMG! While replying to comments on this, I was listening to "You'll Be in My Heart" by Phil Collins... IMO, the most fitting song for this (and I don't care if you say Nobodies don't have hearts)! Clicky for the song - [link]

You could color it, too (after I'm done with it.). So? How about it? Please?

Eee....I just love that thick lineart. <3

And that shading style is beautiful...but you already know that.

Thanks!

I'm likely going to do thick outlines like that more often. I really like how it turns out! hehee I used a Sharpie; my new pens make the edges look too jaggy (the Sharpie makes it look smoother and stands out).

And the shading... Oh, yes! The shading! I actually did a couple techniques that helped me on some spots... Like the Magic Wand to select some spots and burned along an edge (like, with Xem's jaw and neck), and I also tried out various diameters for the Burn tool where it seemed to be needed (same goes for the Dodge tool).

Welcome! ;D

You should like it! 8D Ooo a sharpie? Never used one of those...D: Really need to have one imported from the US XD

Ahhh! Smart!

SharpAnimationInc In reply to Bandarai [2007-09-10 01:44:05 +0000 UTC]

Well... I don't think it matters what kind of marker. I used a Sharpie because it won't bleed when I outline it and it's a bit smoother and permanent.

If you can find a marker like that, then it should be good enough for outlining.

I'm guessing your out of your artists block... because that's f***ing brilliant! Darn you! As soon as the animal tutorial is finished I will be all over it! XD

No... I'm not really out of my artist's block..... If I was out of it, I'd be drawing like crazy! LOL! But at least there's always doodle night that gets me up again. YAY!

And thanks! X3 However, I still think I could've been better on this. hehee

The animal tutorial will be compiled soon, I'm hoping... As well as the other ones. Likely be my next couple projects for dA.

Yay!!! ^.^

Well, for someone who's still got artists block, that's... you know awesome!

I could never make my photoshops as nice as that!

Plus it's great, I don't think you could have improved on anything so there ^^

SharpAnimationInc In reply to DragonHeartPrincess [2007-09-08 05:00:14 +0000 UTC]

LOL! X3

I wonder how I'll be like after my artist's block then...

I did buy a couple new markers earlier today, so I guess I'm sticking to traditional coloring for a while. hehee Which is good because I find it easier than coloring in digitally (however, it has permanent results - but I also have a palette for testing).

All I basically do on Photoshop is edit and enhance my traditional color jobs. At least for CS2, that is... Photoshop Elements (3 or 5 - whichever I'm in the mood for) is for coloring mostly. X3 hehee Jasc software (Paint Shop Pro, Animation Shop, etc.) are used at a "when-needed" basis; they have effects that aren't on Photoshop, which is helpful. LOL!

I experimented a lot on this piece... hehee And I've been told by others to always experiment with tools... It's why they're there! Try them out on your works. It might be tricky at first, but they'll eventually become second-nature (they have for me). hehee

I'm just kinda glad all my testing-things-out didn't butcher this; everything was basically thrown together when I did this, I'm kinda lucky the results worked out... X3 .......... <.< ... >.> ... <.< ... >.> ... *strikes that last part out before Xem sees it*

I guess I'm the type who's just never satisfied with my own work and always sees a hidden something that could be improved...

I never feel satisfied with my work.... even if I (try to) improve on it.

Ah well, guess.... I'll just have to like my own style!

SharpAnimationInc In reply to DragonHeartPrincess [2007-09-10 01:40:03 +0000 UTC]

Improvement usually comes subconsciously... Like, I'm starting to use Sharpies to outline my work more than pens ever since I drew my shared avatars (since I know that a mere pen outline won't show up when shrunken down to avatar-size)... Which is why I have this outlined with a Sharpie..... I wasn't planning on it, but it actually made my avatar template look so pretty, I decided to continue that... ^.^

And styles work the same way... A lot of artists adapt to an existing style that they like, and start out drawing with similar styles... Then they eventually become second nature in their drawings until they branch off to their own style.

I've experienced that before... For animals, I used to copy Disney characters a lot! My first one was Lady and the Tramp's styles (I wish I can do TLK styles! )... ([link] - first attempt at it) Then it broke off into how I draw dogs today like this one... You'll see that some things stayed with me (ears and fur), and the changes (slightly different eye set and a change in coloring techniques).

I also grew onto other's styles from dA! I think I've gotten into *Silverookami (general appearance - you can tell with my head style), *Keysha-chan (how to color with markers - even if mine aren't copic ones ), *Shin-zo , and ~Vampyyri (both on ideas, especially on ZemuSaiku - they p'wn that field). X3 There are others, but they're my biggest influences...

I know it's easier said than done, but... Don't hate yourself or your art if you see better stuff... Try learning from the ones you do admire. And ask the artists themselves for tips (by my experience of asking people on dA, they're more than willing to help out).
