"I wish it didn't have to be this way… it's not fair to them," Naruto said lowly, staring at his children from the other side of the protective glass, Sakura and Sasuke by his side, listening to his every word. "I had to deal without both my parents, and that was hard, but I made it through. But I don't have the slightest bit of how to be a father. Hinata always told me that we'd go through it all step-by-step, her at my side, helping me become a great dad, but now that she's not here…"
"Naruto, everything's gonna be alright," Sakura said, placing a comforting hand on his arm, the feel of the Hokage robe soft on her bare skin. "We'll help you through it."
"Hn," Sasuke said, nodding his head in agreement.
"The other Konoha 12 will, too, and the Sand Siblings," Sakura said, "And don't forget all of the sensei's."
Naruto smiled lightly, tears filling up his eyes. "Thank you, guys. I always knew that I could count on you all… Raiden, Yasuchi, and Tamiko will feel so loved growing up…"
"So you already came up with the names?" Kakashi said, walking down the beige hallway of the hospital, the rest of the team knowing he was smiling by the upside down u shape his eye made.
"Hey, sensei," Naruto greeted his voice scratchy from crying and heavy with emotion. Kakashi instantly saddened at the state his old student was in. This man (though right now it reminded the older man of how Naruto was when he was a child— scared, lost, wanting help) had endured so much pain in his life that he didn't know whether to be happy at his wife's death, or his children's lives, (in his mind) focusing more on his loss than the happiness he had gained because he was just too used to loosing something or someone important than to gaining something or someone important.
"Don't worry, Naruto, you'll be a great dad. If not for your children, then you will be for Hinata," Kakashi said, turning to look at the three little bundles of joy Naruto had gained. "But don't worry, soon they'll be your whole life and you'll be the best father ever seen."
Naruto bent his head low, trying to hide his tears from his sensei. "Thank you, sensei…"
