Derpy Hooves begins our journey as the innocent Fool. All possibilities and contradictions exist in this moment and our central pony lives in the moment, uncaring about where the journey may end. Here we have blowing clouds against a rising dawn, symbolizing the start of a new journey. She wears bells on her toes and (deliberately elongated) ears and sports brightly colored streamers for her role. In the green sack she carries her supplies for the trip (everyone needs a muffin!) and points the way to go. She teaches us to take leaps of faith, to live in the moment, take a random fork in the road, be confident when you meet challenges, but don't be reckless and end up unhappy or in danger.
