At the beginning of February I decided rather last minute to make Lady Maria for Emerald City Comic Con. I got my momentum rather late into the month and barely finished the Friday of the con but the clothes are done! I made everything save the pants and the base of the boots. I hand-draped and sewed the cape, I made the coat from a combination of altering two different patterns and making my own patterns and cut from an embossed denim. It's even all lined with red! I couldn't find a trim that was close enough so I found some fancy events fabric and made a trim out of that. I made the vest from a button up shirt pattern I had laying around and just didn't include the sleeves. I made the hat, ascot and boot flaps/knee cover entirely with my own patterns. I also sculpted the brooch with Sculpey and made the gem by painting a green opal in Photoshop, printing it on photo paper, adding a few layers of glitter then adding it to the back of an oval glass stone. I think the illusion worked out nicely! The hair is my own hair since I've been rockin' silver lately. There are some things I want to redo and fix but I'm happy with how it came out for such a time crunch. James took these photos for me!
