If my broken heart could bendIt would be made of rubber instead of stone
But since it's made of rock
I might as well mend it with duct tape
Or maybe superglue
To make sure my point sticks
To your hard exterior
If I'm rubber and you're glue
Why don't you get it?
Shouldn't it bounce off me and stick to you?
When hand to hand we stand
Tripping over each other's feet
So remember: it takes two to tango
Because if you could talk to the talk
I might forgive you
But you should learn to walk the walk
You're so full of yourself
But as a pessimist I say you should be half empty
Which is the right water level to be
When your ego is flooded
Don't expect me to pull the plug
Because I already did my best to drain it
You said you wanted me
More than anything
Be careful what you ask for:
You just might get it
When the many miles between us
Seemed like inches on the map
You seemed so close
Now phone lines can't bridge the distance
Between west and east
Different time zones can make a difference
To teenagers who think they're in love
Love comes slowly, tentatively
Not in two-and-a-half weeks
Getting my life saved doesn't mean I have to love you
Trust doesn't equal love
Below sixteen is too young to fool around
With another young heart
Because even with private lessons
My heart remained broken
And my scars are still there

this is great, The third stanza is my favorite...the poem is so very realistic
....on a side note the title of this is also the title of a song from the brilliant musical "Into the Woods"....I was in a terrible rendition of that when I was in sixth grade, it was sad we ruined it

actually, yes, personal experience. it can... but it can't... the 2 1/2 weeks thing was more tied into the part arguing against the love.
