Description
this is a sculpture i made for my 3D design class last spring. the assignment was "stacking". the only requirements was that it had to be at least 2 feet tall. i managed to build this past 5 feet at one point, but realized the folly of getting it home (plus it fell over). this is made with pill bottles, mostly from psychiatric medications. i made it in a DNA double helix. there is a lot of art pieces that comment on how psychiatric medications take away from people's lives, but for me, and my family, our meds keep us living and healthy. many psychiatric disorders are genetic, a result of imbalanced brain chemistry, and can't be fixed by just therapy. that's what this piece means to me. the photo isn't very good, but it's all i have from before it fell apart.
currently though, this sculpture is in pieces in my attic, since it was rather fragile and i had nowhere to put it while it was that large. i do plan on remaking it when i have a bigger space, and to make it stronger.
