you left me with a tempest within
like a ship tossed upon the deep
you left me
with nothing but a memory on my heart

as clear (and painfully sharp)
as the azure skies we lay below
among the yellow fields and emerald grasses
when you would caress my cheek

verily, with the softest of sighs
i thought this was never-dying
even though our love was far from pure
yet it was as blameless as

the white clouds we would watch
i wrote your name upon the blank slate of my heart
inscribed it within my poems
like I never did before

but it had to end
(though i wished it not to be so)
now
i am the heart within the dark

trying (explosively) to get back to you
to hold onto the memories of summer
and hope (and wish) and wonder
if (and when) i'll ever see you

again
