Description
Since the dawn of time, the armies of Heaven and the legions of Hell have waged an endless war. Drawn to the war was the Charred Counsel, an ancient body charged by the Creator Himself to preserve balance, order, and thus, life itself. In time, Heaven and Hell honored the Counsel, for none were beyond the swift and terrible justice of their greatest enforcers; a fearsome brotherhood known as… the Four Horsemen. Fury, Death, War, and Strife rode forth and forced the First and Second Kingdoms to create a truce that ended the fighting, as well as several treaties. Among these treaties, both Kingdoms swore to never interfere with the affairs of the Third Kingdom; the Kingdom of Man.But this has not stopped other powerful entities from claiming Earth as their own. These beings wielded such power that the humans worshiped them as gods. And so they carved the Third Kingdom into separate territories, each one prospering or suffering as the “gods” pleased. The Counsel ordered these beings to withdraw from the Earth before the Tree of Life was burned, which would trap them on the world, but the Counsel was denied. So, rather than lower the Four into simple bouncers, the Counsel created the Seven Seals; artifacts that contained oceans of power. The Seals forced the beings, now known as Pagan Gods, from the Earth and prevented most, if not all, travel there. However, there was a flaw. The Seals were meant to be broken, and when they were, it would bring about the Apocalypse when Man stood ready to challenge both Heaven and Hell themselves. To prevent a premature Apocalypse, the Counsel hid the Seals across Creation.
They thought no one would be able to find the Seals. They thought no one could manipulate the Seals to their own ends. And everyone thought, that if such a thing were to happen, the Riders would stop the culprit before things got out of hand. So they thought.
So they hoped.
