Description In this summer, I travelled Kyoto.
Kyoto is the old capital city in Japan. There are a lot of old shrines, temples and traditional buildings. One of the World Heritage.

Fushimi Inari is the main of one of the biggest Inari shrine groups in Japan.
This fox is one of guardians of the gate of Fushimi Inari shrine. He is holding a key in his mouth. ^^

There are fox statues in almost Inari shrines. Inari is a god of harvest. Foxes are servants of Inari. They are sitting at both side of the gate of shrine. The are guardians of sanctuary as komainu of a lot of Japanese Shinto shrine and lions of a lot of Asian Buddhist temples.

Inari is also the god of all foxes. According to a legend ive heard of, he has 13 fox children that each have one of the fox elements

I wish the U.S had beautiful landmarks, buildings and traditions like a lot of Asia has. I know our country is still young, but still... Americans tend to destroy things to make room for the new. We have some, but nothing compared to other countries. I wish to visit Japan very soon! I am in school officially learning Japanese now! So I hope by the time I get to visit Japan I will be able to speak it fluently and not be just another ordinary westerner tourist. But beautiful statue and great shot you took! ^^

Brilliant! Keep it up! I hope your study of Japanese will go well.
Someday, you must come to Japan. If you visit Tokyo, I will guide you in/near Tokyo.

In Japanese folklore, kitsune were often regarded as mysterious animals which had a lot of powers -magic, curse, transform and so on-.

*thinks back*

Fushimi Inari, Kinkaku-ji, To-ji, and Nijo-jo are all places I can remember. There were probably other places as well, but it was a whirlwind of a trip at the time and very busy. Of course I took many photos.
