Description
A scene from the chapter The Bridge from the game Detroit: Become Human, featuring Connor and Hank. I think this game is pretty interesting, with awesome visuals and soundtrack. However, some of the concepts and terminology seemed a little weird to me, though I'm probably just being picky (I neither confirm nor deny that I've had experience with computer science). As a side note, I get the feeling that Connor is extremely popular in this game's fandom *scrolls through dbh fanart*...Umm well... this is a little weird. This is a bit of an experiment that I've been working on for a little while. Part of me feels like it's kind of a mess, but had enough work put into it for me to want to just put it out there lol. I wanted to do fanart for this game, but didn't feel that the super realistic look of the game didn't translate well to my usual art style. I liked the game's environment though, so I though I'd give this a try. (*cough*alsoireallylikethesetwocharacters*cough*theirfriendshipisgreatlol*cough*)
The entire process for this was basically me winging it - as I don't have nearly enough experience with pixel art to do amazing things lol. I took a screenshot of this scene, which my pixel art app transformed into a pixel-ized version. I then started drawing over that version in shades of grey/black/white (using a default palette the app provided), beginning from objects in the foreground and ending with those in the background. Of course, it didn't end up as an exact copy - changing from full color to grey/black/white meant some details had to be changed. That, and doing everything exactly the same would be too much effort lol. I also deliberately made a bunch of changes to try to make things look better as pixel art. With Connor and Hank the only part of the pixel-ized version I used was their position. I also didn't want to make it exactly the same because it felt like tracing. The city in the background was the most difficult to do - it was a lot more abstract than the other objects in the scene and trying to get it right while being unable to get it right was pretty stressful. Overall, this was certainly an interesting experience. ;^^
