Description The Sandcat assault rifle is Quicksilver Industries' latest addition to the market. Firing the widely-used 5.45x39mm from a platform similar to the AK series, this baby will feel very familiar, but will outperform any modern AK.

Quicksilver Ind. produces top of the notch firearms made for easy and cheap mass production, while maintaining very high quality. Our firearms will always be fully ambidextrous, two toned, operator-friendly and accessory-friendly.

I gotta say, I love your designs. I do have a question, would you be against someone taking your designs for their own purposes, say inclusion in a game or as inspiration for their own art? Not saying it would be me, but I could imagine someone doing some good with these designs. I'd love to see this particular model in 3D.

Someone's made this baby in 3D. www.artstation.com/p/gy4PP

I don't mind people modeling my designs, as long as it's for personal purposes (not commercial purposes) and I'm properly credited.

I'm glad you enjoy my work, thanks a lot.

Looks good, just the gas-tube is too long. It could some disturb the mass-center and weight balance. Heh, DTK is without changes

Shockwave9001 In reply to iStanislaw [2014-12-29 16:51:49 +0000 UTC]

Actually, the gas tube only runs slightly in front of the handguard. The rest of that tube thing is a counter recoil balancing thing.

The AN-94 was one of my main sources of inspiration, so yeah

Very clean design. One point of constructive criticism though: The hand stop on the bottom rail is meant to do exactly what the name implies, and is typically mounted behind where the hand is going to be positioned. The rail guard and hand stop should be reversed.

Shockwave9001 In reply to madmonty98 [2014-04-13 22:36:57 +0000 UTC]

Some people wouldn't agree on that. Some people like it so it stops the hand up front. Besides, it's an AK-like gun, most people would hold this at the magazine anyways.

In this case, I placed it there for the reason stated above, but also so you can place the bottom of the handguard (in front of the handstop) on an object (the inside of a window, or a wall in example) and then press the handstop against said object for stability. I believe Noveske's KX9 was designed for the same thing actually.

Fair enough, I stand corrected. Having fired an AK, it's just hard for me to imagine not having it the other way around to fight the violent recoil, but I've never used a hand stop on a rifle before.

yet again you surprise me, i wish your weapons were real. And how long dose it take to come up with the idea for the weapon, and how long to make it ?

Shockwave9001 In reply to yalcober [2014-01-10 15:06:38 +0000 UTC]

Thanks man, I wish they were too.

Most of the time I don't come up with an idea and work that out, but instead I play around with some preset parts and work from there if I like it.

It can take up from a day to a few months actually.
