Could’ve sworn that the A-Wing could store 10 jump coordinates, not two...

The original Star Wars d6 stats state "two jumps." Not sure if that was retconned in subsequently material, but that's what I based the Mark III's stats upon. And it is a prototype, so an improved navicomputer could be installed in the production model.

Hmmm, this would not feel out of place in the new films, what with the blue paint and new shaping an' all.

So is this an older model of A-Wing as in Rebels, or a newer model for the older continuity?

A newer model for the Expanded Universe (the older continuity). Since the Mark II was built around the time of the Battle of Endor, it only made sense that the next in the A-Wing line would be fielded sometime in the New Republic era, around 14-15 years after Endor.

According to the Expanded Universe setting, the Rebel Alliance constructed the original A-Wings in their secret manufacturing plants, with whatever materials were available (some even had finished wood that lined the cockpit interiors) under General Jan Dodonna's Alliance Underground Engineering team. Sometime later, Incom picked up the design and began manufacturing the Mark IIs with laser cannons that could swivel a full 360 degrees and concussion missile launchers.

Why D6 format and not D20? LoL

Shoguneagle In reply to AlexanderDeath [2016-08-02 11:12:53 +0000 UTC]

Because the D20 rules for vehicles treats them like creatures... which is needlessly overcomplicated.

Agreed. I've seen a number of their systems make that mistake, including their 1 sponsored "Mecha" Sci-Fi production. That's why I was busily writing my own for the Macross Project on my domain.

Makes sense. D20 is great for fantasy setting (ala D&D and early Pathfinder), but translates terrible when converted to science fiction settings. Star Wars D20 turned into Elves in Space.

Well, it all comes down to interpretation I guess. Someone in their office probably said "Keep it as close to the baseline system as possible!"... and then promptly got hit in the head with a baseball, LoLz!
