Eirik is brought into the twins' house in the middle of the night, beaten mercilessly by a human mob. After being nursed back to health, Eirik makes a welcome calm and serene addition to the household, although he is deceptively strong. In case you're wondering what the hell is up with his back, Eirik is a huldu, a type of Norwegian troll (closely related to fey), which have hollow backs like empty tree trunks, wolf eyes and cows' tails.
