Description
This is a poem I recently wrote. I've always wanted to do something like ~ alexpardee 's "Raquel Part 2" [link] (Which is one of my favorite pieces on DA btw) The poem was originally going to be about one person, but it began to be about a collection of the people I've been with.The pictures from the film strip are of the actual guy I was talking about in the begining of the poem and of myself. I used very few brushes and this "project" has been something I've been working on for the past couple months whenever I've had some spare time. On a side note, some of the things I talk about in the poem actually happened years ago.. so in sense it took me a very long time to write about all of this. I hope you enjoy it

An Update
I didn't know that this piece would do so well
Now that I look back on it, I would have written it differently and maybe in the future I'll just take the original and mess with it.. but for the time being, I just wanted to say thanks. The ones who have been 'watching' me for awhile know Jake (and Jason!) and you guys all rock my world.

I love how it feels like it's ripped right froim a notebook. I love how everything just goes together. All the words and lines written and the drawings.

one of the worst feelings to eva have to feel is loving someone so much and them to love you back...only to loose them...especially if its to something 'stupid' like distance, which it was for me...and tha guy was also called Jake (jacob) lol

I'm becoming quite attached to your mix of poetry (though more retrospectve writing) and montaged imagery, they give so much more about you than just one or the other, in a way I feel like i know you from it, quite strange. i think perhaps it's also the unadulterated frankness of your writing, it has that "spade-is-a-spade" thing about it, which to some people, such as myself, can be quite disarming.
On a purely aesthetic note, I'm not a huge fan of the main typography, its neither grungy nor uber-clean or elegant, it just sits there a bit dull. The surrounding art, as I said before, gives a real sense of "you", with the juxtaposed scrawls and styles, I love that vagually irrational stlye, but still around a central mood and subject.

this was actually the piece that got me into the whole thing, so that may be why it's a little on the dull side (I dont take offense lol) The photo in this one is my favorite photograph of myself, and people say its because you cant see my face, but that's not it at all, I'm actually very happy with the way I look, but this was a random picture taken in some town while a friend and I were road-tripping.. and I was thinking about the "jake" in the poem while I was sitting there and it just symbolizes so much for me.

This got my attention because my name is Jake. And ironically enough, my girlfriend and I broke up about a week ago. It's hard when you're going through those kinds of things to truly understand that the other person is almost always going through the same kind of thing. I hope things are better for you now. i do like the collage affect you have going on. your poem is sad, i like it. however the style you wrote it in throws me off, but it's the words that make a good poem. and you're is wonderful. i know how must've felt while writing that, if you've ever read some of mine you can read the pain in my words. you are a talented artist. you'll go far in life.

When I look at this peice the first thing I did was read the text itself. Then after that look at the drawings and handwritten text. This took me over 5 minutes for sure, and yet I din't even see all or read it all. This is a great peice.
It's a sad story indeed but very well written.

Beautiful panel... I can't get enough of it. I know it's been there for a while but everytime I come back to it I discover something new that spices up the former feeling. This time I just had to stop and it. What I admire the most is how something so personal can appeal to almost anyone to evoke a memorie, an event, a feeling, just like a true piece of art should do.
