i have ac4 and im trying to make a really fast next but with good defense and good at close and mid range mind helping me out with some ideas? btw i have it for the xbox 360

Well, I got the PS3, but the mechanics are the same.
Problem is, lightweight units have almost no defense as a given. I suggest you use an all AALIYAH frame like Berlioz does. AALIYAH boosters give you a huge jump, but are very drainy. Use either the Moonlight or Dragonslayer-that'll give you some decent close range power. Equip a machine gun in your mech's other arm or an assault rifle, and see if you can't use a Plasma Cannon on the back.
The shoulder units are up to you.

really? I never played AC4. but I did hate the quickboost because the missiles still hit me no matter the evasion I kid you not. I'm not the best but I dominate in long range support style combat. just not AC vs AC combat. plus they don't get hit no matter what. it's ridiculous. the only time i actually have a chance is close range but I hate clase range combat

True. This is why you have flares, and why I abuse them against opponents with tons of missiles. Longe-range is fine. I'm a mid-short range fighter, and I can murder people with certain weapons.
I don't tend to like machine guns anymore for some reason...

PLus, they don;t operate like old AC1-3 machine guns. They have fricking MAGAZINES.

the red triangular one in AC3 was suprisingly realistic. the rounds are small enough so you wouldn't need a magazine even though there's a thousand rounds. but I also hate the PA system in the 4th gen AC.
I would not want to trade a long time of defence for 3 seconds of overboost

Y'mean Karasawa? Or as the new NEXTs go, CAnopus? They're not the best. I like dual-rifling with either assault rifles and rifles or laser rifles and assault rifles. Those are far more powerful than the canopus when used in concert. And blades? for Multi? Meh, blade lag probably helps.

Most likely the Canopus and Moonlight, the most powerful(TECHNICALLY) weapons in any AC game. Mostly I equip an AC to satisfy that one mission in particular. Otherwise, I have no defined style.

Alrighty, I remember. It was the Moonlight blade. He did have a few ACs here and there for missions, but the one he always uses online is the one with the Karasawa rifle and the Moonlight blade. Was light and quick.

Only problem is with a light and quick AC is that a few powerful hits turn you into scrap. Except for the Latona, because oddly enough it has more AP than a standard lightweight...
I almost never use the Karasawa, but I mostly use the Moonlight for high-speed and powered attacks. Good when the enemy is far away so I can close in and AA them to death. Usually works.

O definitely... My bro has his own method of dodging the missiles, but if a few hit him, he's toast. He relies on the speed and the blade to keep him up.

Most of mine are medium to heavy builds. The one heavy build I have has a ton of really, really hardcore weaponry on it. Stuff like Kojima missiles and large grenades.
