how many shots you had to combine to make all these elements work so fine ?

it is only one shot. i use long exposures and a flashlight to draw with. sometimes it takes a few tries to get it looking right but the result is always one single shot with everything i want in it.

I like how the creature isn't all complete in how it connects to it's body.
Nice colours.
How do you do that?

ya, it would take a lot of attempts to make it perfect and I like how it isn't either. Seems more spontaneous to me. I do it with long exposure times and a flashlight. Different flashlights will give you different colors and effects.

i think it all has to do with thinking it out beforehand and then making good use of your time while the shutter is open. Sometimes I will have to start a new line and I won't remember where to start it...

yeah, my camera (Canon EOS 1-Ds Mark III) which is the top of the line canon makes can hold it's aperture open for up to 32 minutes on manual ...
time isn't really my problem, neither is the composure of the atmosphere.
i can frekin draw anything!!!! >_<

haha. i used to be really into drawing as a kid but I was never really that great. I could get by though. Now I focus on photography but this is a nice combination of the two hobbies.
32 minutes? yipes. I have a remote shutter release so I can keep mine open until the battery runs out but that wouldn't make much sense. When I do long exposures that are longer than a few minutes I will use mechanical film cameras because then I don't run down the batteries and don't have to wait for the processing inbetween shots.

excellent as always. do you use an nd filter?

i have an ND filter but I don't usually use it for these. I usually just try to pick places that are dark with some light leaking in so that it will look right with a long exposure. If it is too dark then it is boring and if it is too bright it looks sloppy and overexposed.
