Hey, just letting you know that I'm using your photo as a cover photo for a story (stupid thing requires them all of a sudden, but your photo fits better than anything I could have ever though of). This definately adds depth to many things. The white hands and white border around a black background makes everything just stand out and gives it new contrasts. The formation of the hands makes it look much more desperate.
Reminds me of the song Down and Out by Tantric, very complex and good.

Another great concept, I like the simplicity of this one

i really like this - interestingly one of the things i like best isthe proportion of white to black. spot on.
One thing I think would look better is if one of the hands - prob the right one, was turned palm facing the camera.
This would give the feel of reaching/grasping better than both palms away.
As it stands one could imagine the hands are on a floor, feeling their way slowly in the dark, rather than stretching as far as they can for an unreachable, unknowable goal.

I'm thinking of a vertical down-to-up movement, reaching for the stars, and i think you are seeing one pushing INTO the darkness away from the viewer?

I think this image captures that sentiment beautifully. I've often pictured that internal struggle inside as an action grasping for the intangible hope. I love how this speaks, well done!
