Description The product originally contained a Burmese python texture instead.Β  Here is what the actual ball python texture looks like now that the update is live (the Burmese one has been left in as a bonus).

That 'March Madness' thing hit at the same time, sadly. But definitely planning on getting this, the moment cash flow allows!

Incidentally, from a distance, this render has an intriguing resemblance to a Vorlon's head, from 'Babylon 5'...

Interesting about it being preferred to feed snakes dead rodents. I had assumed that they would prefer some excitement from their food, but it sounds like the food is a little tooΒ exciting for most. This is a gorgeous new product and is definitely on my list to buy. With the lovely textures already provided, I am sure a person could get creative and make some variant colours.

I talked to a friend who is a herp enthusiast and did some web research before I posted that.Β  She said snakes in the wild die from infections from small injuries inflicted by prey a lot, because it turns out one of the disadvantages to being a reptile is a comparatively poor immune system.

Excitement is not a positive feature of a snake's life.Β  Their feelings and needs are different from a mammal's.Β  They do need a very specific environment, with enough space, places to hide, things that aren't moved a lot, and above all the right temperature - that's much more important to a snake than it is to a pet cat, dog, or rodent.

Fortunately the injury rate to digital snakes with live feeding is extremely low, so people can feed live rats, rabbits, and elves to the Constrictor all they like.

I am imagining the things I can feed my digital snake already.

Make sure you put some pinkies in the basket at the right time.

Pinkies?Β  I am so far from being a herpetologist it's not funny! Β  I'm guessing you don't mean little fingers?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SickleYield In reply to SimonJM [2015-02-26 14:24:20 +0000 UTC]

No no, sorry! LOLΒ

Pinkies are baby rats or mice, usually frozen and then defrosted before they're fed to the snake.Β  Snakes in the wild sometimes choke on their food or are injured fighting with it, so killed prey is a better choice for most.Β  Further, a rat or some insects (such as crickets) trapped in a cage with a snake that isn't hungry yet may literally eat parts of the snake.Β

There are videos of people feeding live prey to snakes.Β  Most of these people are risking their snake's health for the sake of watching something that gives them a thrill.Β  There are a few types that can't learn to eat dead prey, but they're rare in the pet trade.

It came out looking really great! Is it difficult to pose? Or does it work like IK on the figures? (you grab the hand and the arm + rest of the body moves with it).

SickleYield In reply to Toyen3D [2015-02-26 14:05:01 +0000 UTC]

It definitely needs a mixture of techniques, like any item with 200 bones in it.Β  This is why it has the pose controllers it has - they do help.Β  If you want to try IK dragging you want to pin the center hip bone first.Β

Basically, the pose controls plus these techniques:
