Reclaiming the Black Sands: Chapter 4Xerxes didn't get far, he was contained by the JackBots guarding the medical ward and quickly stuffed back into a tank, minus the water this time.
Used to only getting a few hours of sleep when he was working on a big project, Jack decided that he was awake enough to deal with the monster that had bitten him. Thankfully the wound was relativity shallow and did not effect his movement too much, but it had hurt and the teenage genius was in no mode to let the glorified worm try it again. Pulling on dark jeans and a sleeveless top and he walked, Jack noted that the bruising he had sustained yesterday had pretty much faded. At least he didn't have that to worry about.
He looked dispassionately at the eel, protectively coiled up in the furthest corner of the tank.
“You are a bloody menace” he announced as he dropped down onto the work surface, looking down at the hissing creature.
“No. You is bloody. You come near Xerxes again, I bite you even harder!”
“So you have a name at least.” Jack stated, one red eyebrow quirking as he filed away the new information. “What are you then? Some kind of mini hydra? Basilisk?” The eel shrugged; an interesting action to see when performed by a creature with no shoulders.
“Xerxes not know. Master calls, and then I am there. What you done with Master!?” The eel suddenly started up again, remembering where he had been heading before he was intercepted.
“I'm guessing that you mean Mr. Creepy-hand then?”
Xerxes' outrage was immediately apparent and startling to see.
“You took Master's gauntlet! You evil! You give it back! He need it!!!”
“Calm down worm, I'll give it back. If that's what it does to your arm then I don't think I'd want it anyway. He'll get it back as soon as he wakes up. Now if I let you out of there and take you to him will you promise not to bite me? Okay.”
For the second time that day, Jack lifted the lid of the tank but thankfully all the slippery eel did was
push his way out and hover close to the teenager's head.
The moment the eel was brought into the medical ward, it let out a high pitched whine and flew straight to the unconscious man's neck where it curled up and nuzzled against his pale face.
Jack pulled up a chair and sat facing the pair while two MedicBot's zoomed around the room as unobtrusively as they could.
“So what's his name?” Jack asked, whilst flipping through the updated chart of what had been administered to the patient over the past twenty-four hours. Xerxes floated up slightly at the question with a quizzical expression on his face.
“You not know great Mozenrath? He Lord of Black Sands. He scourge of Agrabah. Very powerful sorcerer.” Jack gave the look of the suitably impressed and went back to his reading although his gaze kept being drawn to the man's face. The stranger, 'Mozenrath' he corrected himself, was quite beautiful. His features were to delicate to be deemed handsome in a masculine sense, there was no rugged jawline and tanned skin. Instead there was skin almost as white as the albino's own, framed with long locks of curling black hair that fell in soft waves across his shoulders and the pillow he lay upon. His cheekbones were high as was his proud forehead, his nose was shapely and his lips were full and inviting.
Jack mentally shook himself. He had long known his own preferences but the last thing this man needed was a teenager lusting after him while he was still dead to the world.Xerxes had by now gone back to his position in the man's hair and looked up when Jack moved towards the door.
“I've got some stuff to do, I'll have some food brought in for you later. Don't try waking your master up, he'll do it in his own time. Can I trust you to keep quiet and not piss off the JackBots too much?” The eel nodded and Jack slipped out of the room.

Mozenrath could hear his familiar shuffling around in his hair. It's breath tickled his ear and he flicked one hand up to push him away, he really had to put a ward up that stopped the little pest sneaking in while he was asleep. He felt unwilling to fully wake up, his body felt so heavy and lethargic. It was at this moment that the sorcerer became aware that he was both undressed and not in either his bed nor upon any of the couches in his library.
He sat bolt upright and looked around, as he did so the tubing that connected him to the monitors fell away and Mozenrath noticed that whoever had taken his clothes had also taken his gauntlet.
He looked down at his skeletal hand in mild disgust, someone had stripped him of both his power and his dignity it one blow. That someone would pay.
Unwilling to waste magic on summoning his clothing from the nether-realm, now that his conduit was out of of his reach any magic that he did would have a direct drain on his own life force. This in mind he transmuted the coverlets of the bed into a serviceable tunic and trousers.
Strange how his magic provided him with clothes that were so similar to the ones he wore as an apprentice, yet waking up in an unfamiliar location without magic left him feeling very much as he did when back in Destane's 'care'.
One of the psychopathic bastards favourite games, particularly when his ward was much younger, was to drug him and then leave him in the catacombs of an underground city or an abandoned labyrinth. The more terrifying and starving monsters there were in these places, the better. Mozenrath was once nearly killed during one of these 'games' when a manticore had gored him and then began dragging him off to eat him before he was even fully dead. Mozenrath had been only seven years old at the time.
Needless to say, he remembered the lessons in stealth that they had taught him. Silently he moved out of the bed and out of the door, Xerxes slept on and Mozenrath was loathe to leave him but the eel could not keep his mouth shut and he was not prepared to die because his familiar gave away his position.
Having cleared the first door, he found the next obstructed by two mechanical guards. They spotted him before he saw them so there was little point trying to hide now but he readied his magic in case they attacked. He was a little unnerved when the turned to address him.
“Lord Mozenrath. It is good to see you are awake. Is there anyway we can be of assistance to you?”
Even though the sorcerer had encountered mechanical beasts before but none had shown such intelligence, they must have been constructed with magic.
“I wish to know why I have been taken here. Take me to your master or release me now, I demand the return of my gauntlet.”
The JackBots were silent for a moment, long enough for Mozenrath to grow impatient and believe that they were ignoring him.
“We have confirmed with our master, you are to be escorted to him now.”
With that the robots turned in the air and began flying down the corridor and to the left, making sure that they were at a speed the sorcerer could easily keep up with.
