Description
this is of some tree branches leaning against a wall outside my house, I can only assume they are from my dad cutting down some of the dead wood from this old tree in my garden.the title is because, after having taken the picture I looked at it and saw the little bit of light and colour in the top right corner, this was originally taken landscape but I rotated it because there is also a small part of the image which I swear looks just like a doorway, at the top, slightly left of the middle.
It looks to me as if the branches (most of the image) is some kind of strange underworld, where the dead exist, deep underground where the largest roots from the oldest trees extend. The doorway does look like that of a crypt or mus ileum to me.
In the top right the small patch of colour and light is the tiny glimpse at the world of the living, the world above. Somewhere deep within the dark shadows and stormy clouds of the undersky, there is one very small break in the clouds. They can see us.
This is so for an important reason, so that they never forget what life is like, this is both a comfort and a burden since they are forever reminded of what was once but shall never be again. And yet there is hope, for it is visible to them, perhaps only a tiny glimpse of the light, but they know that this it is there, that life does indeed go on, and if they can search that little window long enough and truly believe in life, they can even see the ones they love again, a for just a moment, they will experience life once more.
