here's Miles back story (it includes my theory about how Death Gods are born):
so when he and Grell were human, their mother died whn Miles was about 4 and Grell was 9, causing their father to become an alcoholic and do nothing, so all of the work and responsibilities fell to Grell. Grell, haveing to earn money, do housework, and take care of his brother and father, was really stressed, and his brother had to help most of the time. To Miles, his brother was his everything; his brother, mother, and only friend (because he had to help, he didn't have much time to play or have friends or anything). After so many years of this (until Grell was 21 (I'm guessing) and Miles was 16), Grell killed himself and right afterwards, Miles found him. Miles, having his 'everything' taken away, killed himself too on the spot.
Here's where my theory comes in (which is actually taken from Full Moon(?)), when someone commits suicide, they become a death god, so after killing themselves, Grell and Miles become death gods.
