Kiante' Bridges may have been born in Ghana, but he was raised in NYC, his parents having immigrated when he was young. his father worked as a taxi driver, his mother a cook, he had a good life and enjoyed frequent camping trips with his father who would tell him stories of his youth in Africa - during on of their camping trips, a strange object crashed to earth, and Kiante', too foolish to know better, went in for a closer look - he found some form of device, a crystal lens that bit into his hand and fused with him, the pain causing him to pass out - when he awoke, he was in a hospital, unharmed and unchanged, completely find - it wasn't until weeks later, when at school during a school-shooting that he realized that what had happened hadn't been a dream at all, as the lens surfaced once more, a kaleidoscope of colours twinkling on its surface, with glyphs of some form around the outside - as he rotated the lens, his vision would shift, and he realized that he could see through solid objects, he could switch to thermal vision, laser-cutter vision, and more - but his favourite was his force vision - a beam of pure kinetic energy, which he used to take down the school shooter. crafting his identity as Collidiscope, he set out to find his fortune as a superhero. he found little of the fame he sought in the superhero scene of NYC and decided instead to return to the place of his father's stories - as he toured africa though, he found less and less that his fame would matter to him as much as helping the people in need, using his gifts to fight back violent rebels, to liberate slaves in diamond mines, and other more exotic threats as well - the journey of his life may have been an odd tapestry, but in using his powers to help his people, he felt he had found his place.
