SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya bolted off as the car door opened, knowing she had all day to play on the beach while her owner relaxed, she didn't bother looking back or hanging around. Sniffing all over Shonya's tail wagged furiously as she was meant with a whole new range of things she'd never smelled before. Giving her nose a break she began to dig into the sand, and nearly jumped when a small wave brushed over her paws and into her newly dug hole. Never having been to the beach Shonya was fascinated and quickly lapped at the water only to growl at how salty it tasted!
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora dragged her dad along the sidewalk. Mom had the picnic basket, and trailed a few steps behind. "Cora!" He said, stopping. She paused, and turned to sit at his side again. As soon as they started moving again, she bounded forward a few more steps. It was a sunny day, just slightly warm so the water would feel good. The sounds of the waves and people drifted to her ears. Sticking her nose in the air, Cora slowed enough to see if there were any familiar scents.
The crosswalk approached. They waited for the cars to clear, and finally the beach was there in front of them. Cora sat, fidgeting and pounding the ground with her tail, long enough for them to unclip the leash. Finally free, Cora bounded towards the water, barking.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Attempting to fight the waves Shonya ran towards them when they shrank back, and quickly retreated when they returned. Wagging happily she paused her play when she heard barks. Looking back Shonya yipped as she spotted a familiar fluffy mass darting towards the waves.
Barking as she ran towards Cora, Shonya quit paying attention to waves until she lost her footing as one slid under her paws, slipping and rolling until she came to a soaked stop in front of her friend. Standing and shaking out her fur Shonya let her tongue roll out and wagged at cora "Hey!"
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora let on another burst of speed when she saw a familiar dog in the waves. Her tail wagged wildly. As Shonya took a fall into the wave, she slowed to a trot and chuckled for a moment, then ran to check on her friend.
"Hi!" She said, sniffing Shonya up and down. Satisfied she was alright, Cora took her own dip in the water, letting the water seep through her fur, and waded back to shore. Water sprayed every where as she shook herself somewhat dry. "What are you up to?"
This time of day, there were kids playing everywhere, and a plenty of food lying around. Cora set her nose to the air trying to figure out what kids to beg food off of. Of course, she wasn't quite hungry yet, so there was plenty of time for adventuring before hand.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya scrunched her face as Cora shock off a burst of water "Jesus your fur is like a sponge." Doing her own minimal shake she shrugged her shoulders "And I'm not up to much! I've never been to this place before so just some exploring. Your family here for the day?"
Sneezing to get some of the sand out of her nose, Shonya sniffed at the air after Cora and laughed,
"Your hungry already?"
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora grinned. Her tail still flung droplets about as she wagged it.
"I know! All the better to splash dogs... or people with!"
She perked her ears. "You've never been here? Well! I'll have to show you everything! I come here all the time. Sometimes even without my people." She started past Shonya and down the beach, staying just close enough to the water to keep up a good splash. "I'm always hungry. Food is my best friend." She laughed, and turned to make sure Shonya was following.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya laughed, "Clearly! And nope, this is the first time my owner has brought me here, if I knew their was a beach I would have come on my own, so feel free to show me everything!"
Trotting after Cora, Shonya made sure to pad just far enough that the water barely brushed her paws. Wagging Shonya smirked and let her tongue roll out, "Food is pretty good!"
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora looked around, trying to decide what to show her first.
"Hmmm, well, you've alright seen the ocean. And then there's the picnic places with lots of food. Oh! And under the bridge there's a bunch of rock pools where you can find crabs and cool fish and stuff." She looked ahead to the where all the boats were. "And the boats are my favorite! You can find all sorts of cool things, and some of the people will let me ride with them since they know me." Cora puffed up her chest at that.
She picked her way among the groups of people carefully. Normally she would let them pet her, but she was on a mission this time.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya wagged at the thought of playing around in the rock pools but paused and stared at Cora with a shocked expression when she motioned to the docked boats, "You like to ride on those things!? Don't you get sick or anything?" Taking another glance at the boats as she followed behind Cora, Shonya shivered, "I can barley stand long rides in the car."
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora laughed. "Nope! They're fun. I like car rides too." She looked back at Shonya, and almost fell on her face when her paw caught in a dip of sand. She stopped to catch herself. "But we don't have to ride them if you don't want to." Cora cocked her head and wagged her tail. "The dock is pretty fun though."
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya laughed nervously when she again looked at the boats and puffed her chest, "Nah haha, we can ride one! I'll be fine!" Not really believing her own words, but not wanting to look bad in front of her friend.
----------
Abberati said the following:
"Okay! I promise it'll be safe. " Cora barked, returning to her steady trot. She reached the dock and sniffed about for the right boat. She only knew a few of the sailor's. Finally, she found a familiar one, that also happened to have plenty of food, and turned back to Shonya. "How about this one?"
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
"Kay." Following Cora onto the docks with shaky legs. Shonya felt a bit more sure as she smelled food coming from the boat and smiled, "Smells good, so it's alright with me."
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora grinned at Shonya's response, and hopped onto the boat. "See? It's pretty safe." Her nose set the floor of the boat, she sniffed around for the source of the food smell. Finally, she found a cooler near the front. She shot her head up, panting happily, and waited for Shonya. "I think it's in here!"
She started nosing the edge of the cooler for where it was sealed, but it proved to be tightly sealed.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Carefully checking then hopping on to the boat Shonya nodded at Cora and sat down watching her. Looking around she didn't see any human manning the boat, and trotted over to the cooler "Are you sure you should be after their food when they can't see? Won't they get mad at you?"
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora stopped her nosing and sneezed. The salt that covered everything filled her nose after a while. She gave the cooler ones last shove. "No, and I don't think I could get it open anyway." She laughed and turned from the cooler. There was probably much easier food somewhere else anyway. The kids were always willing to give her something if she asked nicely. Then she paused, the food in the cooler really did smell good. "Unless you think you could open it?" she said.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
"Alright, if you say so." She barked as she watched Cora struggle with the cooler until she gave up. Sniffing and circling the cooler, she flashed Cora a confident smirk. "Probably." Pushing the cooler until it fell on it's side Shonya began to shove her nose between the cooler's top and bottom, "I'll get this side, can you get the other? We can wedge it open that way."
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora nodded, and got into position on the other side of the cooler. She used a foot to steady it on her side. "Okay, all ready here." She smiled over at Shonya. Then wedged her nose under to lid. A little frustrated, she started using her teeth instead, hooking them just under the crack. It finally loosened just slightly.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Taking after Cora, shonya used her teeth and after a bit of struggle and leeway from the cooler it popped open and spilled it's riches "haha! Go it!" Turning to the food Shonya sniffed it and wagged, "And your sure we can eat this?"
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora's tail wagged furiously as the food spilled all across the floor. "Well, the people would probably be mad, but they left it hear unattended... and I don't think it will make us too sick." She grinned at Shonya then took a cursory sniff of the food. There were a few sandwiches and lots of cheese, some of Cora's favorite. Of course, Shonya didn't seem quite as enthusiastic. "Plus, this food all smells too delicious."
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya huffed at Cora, "Man you said they wouldn't be." Looking back at the food she sniffed it and shrugged, "Guess it's a bit to late to turn back now." Licking her jaws Shonya poked a sandwich with her nose before chomping down on and swallowing it.
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora paused and chuckled. "Whoops, I did, didn't I? I mean, they'll be mad, but not so made they'd kill us. Just mad enough to kick us off the boat." She'd gotten in trouble so many times, anger didn't really phase her anymore. She turned back to the food, and gulped down a few sandwiches herself, that ones that had the most cheese. After eating her fill, she straightened and began looking around the boat again, wondering if there was anything else interesting.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya rolled her eyes and smirked while she chomped down a few more sandwiches, Cora was pretty young so getting into trouble wouldn't phase her much if at all, "Guessing you've done this and gotten caught before." Licking any remnants of sandwich from her mouth Shonya saw Cora's eyes wandering off, "Looking for more trouble?"
----------
Abberati said the following:
"Well, I've eaten lots of things, and gotten in trouble for most of it." Cora said. She nodded at Shonya's comment, then turned back less distracted. "Not for more trouble, just more entertainment." She said, though there wasn't much difference. She couldn't find anything too interesting though, so she huffed and stood up.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Stretching after chomping down one more sandwich, Shonya smiled and looked back to the beach, "We can still check out the tide pools? Or go on a boat ride like you wanted?"
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora thought it over, and nodded. "The tide pools sound like fun!" she said."I haven't really seen anybody around for a boat ride." She looked around outside, and didn't see many people she knew. She wagged her tail, and waited for Shonya, before she leapt back to the dock and trotted towards shore. "We got so lucky!" She laughed, licking her chops one last time.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya shook her head, "Yea, lucky this time." Smirking she followed Cora back onto the dock, Shonya wagged feeling much more confident then she had been on the boat, "Well that's a pity, maybe we can ride another time."
----------
Abberati said the following:
"Yes! Someday we definitely need to go sailing!" Cora said, bouncing in excitement. She looked about. "Alright! Tidal pools!" It looked as if the tides were swelling, just barely coming over the edges of the rocks to fill them. Cora wondered if there'd be anything really interesting now that they were being "restocked." "Last time I was here, a crab grabbed my nose." She said to Shonya, laughing. "It wouldn't let go."
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
She chuckled at Cora, "Yep, some day possibly in the distant future." Padding beside her to the tide pools, Shonya laughed as Cora told the probably painful story so excitedly. "Let's hope that doesn't happen this time!"
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora shook her head at that. "I'm sure it won't!"
She approached one of the largest pools and stood at the side, peering in. There was a large, black, spiny thing in one corner, something she took note of right away. On the other side of the pool were some small fish darting about in the rocks. So much more interesting, or at least safer. She took a few hesitant steps into the pool, far away from the spines, and the fish darted into their dark corners.
"Did you see those fish?" she asked, looking back up to Shonya.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya glanced at where Cora had been avoiding and followed suit, "I've seen my owner actually eat one of those, their called urchins I think." Tip toeing around it Shonya looked at a pool mirroring Cora's and spotted a pink squishy looking thing attached to the rock. Cautiously nudging it with her paw, she jumped back when it quickly closed "Eughh, what the heck?"
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora cocked her head at the sound of the name. "Urchin? Wow, that's a weird name." The cry of disgust quickly drew her attention though. "What's that?" She barked and leaped over to where Shonya was. She didn't think it looked that gross, and stuffed her muzzle down into the water to take a closer look. Of course, sniffing something under water was never a good idea (Cora had tried it a few times), but at least she could look at it loser, or maybe taste it.
Finally pulling her head back up, Cora laughed. "I don't think I've seen one of those before."
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya felt the urge to pull Cora away from it, but when it didn't move as she poked it Shonya relaxed. "I have no clue what that thing is, it's all squishy, and gross. I hope people don't eat these to. I don't think they'd be all that good."
----------
Abberati said the following:
"We could always try to eat it ourselves." Cora said, laughing. Then reconsidered. She'd eaten enough odd things to know it usually wasn't a good idea. "It'd probably taste gross anyway. I have seen my parents eat those shells though!" She said, nuzzling the mussels at the edge of the pool. She'd always thought they smelled pretty good, especially with butter on them. "I wonder if they taste just as good not covered in butter."
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya quickly shook her head, "There's no way I'm eating that, you shouldn't either, I don't think its even made of meat!" She sighed her relief when Cora turned away from it and onto something else. Glancing at the mussels Cora pointed out, she nodded approvingly. "At least we know those are edible. But I'm sure they won't taste as good as when humans prepare it, it'll probably taste pretty salty."
----------
Abberati said the following:
"You're probably right," Cora said, but she sniffed them a few more times before licking them. They were very salty. She shook her head to get rid of the taste, and turned back to the tidal pool with a leap. She landed with a splash. After searching through the pool a while longer Cora looked back at Shonya. "Hey! You wanna race?"
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya was over turning a rock when Cora mentioned a race. Turning to her Shonya smirked and wagged, "A race?...Your on!"
----------
Abberati said the following:
As she said it, Cora felt a twinge of doubt. She wasn't really built for running at all. Far too heavy, and furry, but it didn't stop her from grinning. The race would be fun either way.
"Alright, how about all the way back down the beach?" She asked, dropping into a play bow for a second. "To where we first met."
Turning, she trotted a few steps and waited for Shonya to get into position.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya nodded happily in agreement and took her place next to Cora. She wasn't really a runner persay but Shonya knew she'd never let a challenge pass her by. "Okay! Ready when you are." She barked as she dropped into a starter position.
----------
Abberati said the following:
"Alright!" Cora barked, taking position next to Shonya. "Ready? And... Go!"
Cora shot away with a cloud of sand behind her. She had the benefit of being the starter, but of course, her weight took a while to catch up with her, along with her thick, wet coat. The water's edge was a few feet away, so the sand was fairly firm. Still, running through the water seemed much more pleasant than running along the beach. She veered away just slightly, keeping Shonya in view, and started galloping through the first inch of cool water instead.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Making sure not to spend all her energy in a quick sprint Shonya kept a steady pace with Cora until she veered off into the water.
Cocking an eyebrow at her Shonya kept on the compact sand and wondered whether the water would slow her down or not. Getting a bit closer to the swaying waves Shonya felt her pads slide just the slightest as she ran. Getting an idea she sped up and gave a little hop landing on the balls of her feet as she slid along the sand, "Wo!"
Quickly tripping back into a run Shonya laughed at her near crash.
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora had lost quite a bit of ground veering into the water. Well, she had never been quite the competitive type. She laughed as Shonya slid on the sand, and almost caught up to the other dog despite it. The far side of the beach was approaching quickly. Her heart was speeding up enough that she could feel it pounding. A spray of water came crashing into her face, and she spluttered a moment before regaining her speed.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
As they approached the finish Shonya quit caring about the race and slowed, running closer towards her friend. Keeping up next to Cora, Shonya gave her a friendly bump and a wicked grin. She was more of a rough houser than a racer and wrestling with Cora had always been more fun than usual because she was about if not a bit bigger than Shonya. "Fancy a wrassle?"
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora slid as she turned to face Shonya. This sounded like the best idea all day. Racing had been a dumb idea anyway. "Yeah! I wanna wrassle!" she said, dropping her voice into a play growl. Her front end dropped into a play bow, tail high in the air. A moment later, Cora leapt at Shonya and threw her whole weight underneath Shonya. Sand and water flew into her face, as her paws landed in the surf once again.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya wagged furiously as Cora agreed. Mirroring her friend she dropped her top half and barked playfully. Barley catching Cora's surprisingly quick move Shonya had no choice but to roll with the force of Cora's weight. Popping back up Shonya barked and launched herself at Cora's side.
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora started to shift to the side, but she wasn't fast enough, loosing her footing as Shonya came at her. As the waves came in, she hit the ground, tumbling through the water. Her head went under for only a second before the water receded. Back on her feet, Cara nipped at Shonya's side, no real force behind the bite. "There's no way you'll win!" Cora growled.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Worried as her friend tumbled that she may have hit her a bit to hard Shonya paused before yipping as Cora came to her feet with enthusiasm. Avoiding some of Cora's nips Shonya smirked and barked proudly, "I always win!"
----------
Abberati said the following:
Cora shook her head at that. "You don't ALWAYS win!" she laughed, taking another half hearted nip at Shonya's ear."Just most of the time." A few strikes later, she plopped down in the sand, wet and panting. Once her breath was caught, she rolled onto her belly, paws in the air. "But you did win this one." She stuck her paw out to tag Shonya on the nose, before her weight pulled her down.
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Shonya heaved a sigh of relief as Cora plopped down. A while longer and she would have given up herself. Standing over her Shonya laughed, "Barely this time, if you get any bigger I'm outta luck!" Huffing when Cora booped her nose Shonya sneezed and dropped her weight on her friend and added dramatically, "The great one has fallen!"
----------
Abberati said the following:
"I'm still growing." Cora replied with a smug grin, but the triumph was short lived. Her breath escaped her a moment as Shonya feel on top of her. "Oh no! I'm dead! You're too heavy." she wheezed before rolling over so she could throw the weight off. Relieved, her tail beat the ground a few times before falling to rest. "I don't think I'll stand ever again..."
----------
SilverPocky said the following:
Easily rolling off of Cora as she flipped to her side, Shonya puffed out a happy sigh and smirked at her friend, "Drama queen!"
