Description

The esteemed doctor of the Starship Legitimacy (name subject to frequent change and obfuscation) and her assistant. Mostly referred to as the Doctor or just Doc.

(she is not the humanoid one)

Doc is a fairly powerful telepath, though having some level of psychic ability is almost universal in her species.

She's almost always psychically linked with her assistant, and tends to talk and act through them. (Nobody's actually seen the assistant do anything that was clearly of their own volition.)

She is actually a doctor with extensive medical training, but doesn't have access to verifiable proof of that fact. Possibly related is the fact that she'd been running and/or hiding from various legal authorities for a while before she got hired as a member of the Legitimacy's crew.

The reason she goes by Doc is because most species can't pronounce her actual name, and she doesn't like using any of the translated/transliterated versions that might be substituted. The fact that this helps hide her identity is just a bonus.

Doc is the absolute sweetest with (most) patients and whenever being nice helps her. Outside of those situations she's much more willing to be mean and/or let what she's actually feeling show. Can come off as a bit cold at times, which is... not inaccurate.

Other facts time:

Will throw people out of the ship's medbay if they don't need to be there and/or ticked her off.

Might technically be telekinetic but sucks at it and never uses it.

Has horrible distance vision and a different visual light spectrum (specifically in her own eyes though)

Keeps a stock of candy to give to patients.

Probably doesn't sleep enough.

This took so long I swear. Krita says it took 7 hours 44 minutes and it consistently undershoots. I don't know why I decided to design a big chunk of the Legitimacy's medbay on the spot and then do detailed shading. Deciding to draw a character leaning on a table is a slippery slope I guess.
