Făgăraș Mountains, Southern Carpathians, RomaniaAugust 2009
- Transfăgărășan is a road in Romania which cuts through the mountains. Its highest point is at 2,034 metres altitude at Bâlea Lake, a glaciar lake. It was constructed between 1970 and 1974.
[link] - this is a top created by carsroute.com and they named the Romanian Transfăgărășan the most beautiful road in the world. The boys from the British show Top Gear tested some cars on this road and they were also impressed (here a little preview of the episode featuring this road: [link] )

Actually, I think I saw various shots of this same landscape, from different point of views, in another author's gallery; it's nice to see, here, the complete scenary. It's quite impressive - and I love those clouds in the middle distance. They add a bit of a magic feeling.
