I love this rifle
MP44 was actually The first assault rifle. Hitler wasn't impressed at first demonstration of this rifle so he canceled that project but development continued in secret.
It became base for a lot of modern assault rifles like AK/s 47,74,107... or Hk G3A3 which is very similar.

YUP, THE COMMIE BASTARDS JUST COPIED IT!!! JUST POKE YER HEAD IN A HISTORY BOOK AND IT WILL THE YOU THEY TURNED COMMUNIST AT THE BEGINING OF THE 20TH CENTURY WITH LENIN AND THEY STILL ARE !!! ONE OF THE BIGGEST POLITICAL PARTIES THEY HAVE IS STILL THE COMMIE BASTARD PARTY!! IT'S LIKE THEY HAVEN'T LEARNED A DAMN THING!!! AND BEFORE YOU "NAIL" MY ASS TO THE WALL; TRY ACTUALLY READING HISTORY & MY JOURNAL PAGE AND YOU WILL SEE FOR YOURSELF THEY HAVE PROVEN THEMSELVES UNWORTHY OF THE USA'S TRUST. THEY HAVE ALWAYS SOLD OUT TO OTHER COMMIE NATIONS & THOSE WHO USE TERROR AS A MEANS OF GAINING POLITICAL POWER IN OTHER COUNTRIES. RUSSIA DOEN'T CARE AS LONG AS THEY GET PAID. THE RUBLE IS ONLY GOOD FOR TOILET PAPER!!!

The model name is actually STG-44.

Excellent render!

yeah, the original designation was MP44 to hide development from Hitler who had insisted on manufacturing only machine guns, not rifles.
Once he discovered it he wasnt happy, but after trying it, was so impressed he re designated it Sturmgewehr (assault rifle) hence STG-44

you are right however as my production model should have that designation ..

It was the first modern assault rifle, but the Russians made the first automatic repeating rifle during the days of the Tsardom. It was the Fyodorov Avtomat, though it was not as popular as the Mosin Nagant. The STG-44 was probably the first automatic repeating rifle that used a good-sized magazine.

Sim, what you have there is actually an STG-44, the prototype production model was actually the MP-43, not 44. It's not a commonly known fact, so don't sweat it

PUREevel In reply to GundamGPO3 [2009-12-30 18:31:09 +0000 UTC]

If you really want to get technical, it was both, plus the MP43/1 which was modified with the addition of a screw end for a grenade launcher that as far as I can tell was never produced. And there were two prototypes made before the MP43, called the MKb42(H) and the MKb 42(W), which were made by the Hanel and Walther companies(respectively).

Excellent! The only thing I might note is that German wartime 7.92x33mm Kurz ammunition was steel, not brass cased.
