Spans about 10 years. I made Kira sometime in 2002.

Now for some copy/paste description from the original sketch page:

1st gen - The very first drawing I ever did of Kira looked like this. Nothing like she does today! XD
I remember I disliked the design almost immediately after making it, and started making changes to make her look more like the next design. This was back in 2002.

It looked so baaaaaaad. Look at the timeline. LOOK AT IT. SO AWFUL.

2nd gen - This design lasted for about two years. You can immediately note that she's wearing normal-people clothes. I'm pretty sure I owned an outfit like that back then. I know I wore a headband. Her clothes tended to change depending on what I was wearing at the time.
She also looks more like an echidna, since back then, Knuckles was my favorite character.

Really, this form only existed in my notebooks in school. I did nothing with the character as far as plot or personality until a few years later.

3rd gen - Started trying to give her a "theme". And her first theme was the very cliche "darkness/evil". She had all these pumpkin/jack-o-lantern motifs on her clothes, and had evil powers. She also got her bobbed haircut in this design that she still has today. This was around 2004 into 2005. It was around this time that I joined dA. o__o

She was so plain like this. ALKDJGLS I can't even handle the plainness.

4th gen - One of her more memorable phases that I have a love/hate relationship with. At this point, she was a total Mary-Sue. Her previous forms were just bland, this one was the exact opposite. She had TOO MUCH going on as far as powers, relationships with characters, background. It was awful.
And the design. Yech. There was zero color coordination. She had the overused bandages on her arm to SEAL IN HER DARK POWERS GAIZ. And goggles. I don't know why, but she had goggles. (But then, everybody's used goggles at some point.)
And she was kinda bitchy and mean. Even I sometimes disliked her.
But I still have some fond memories of this form, as this was one of the peaks of my Sonic fandom for a long while. It lasted from 2005 to 2007-08ish.

Believe me, I'm glad it's over.

5th gen - Now we're getting something recognizable. After I completely redesigned her a few years ago, she gained her cowboy/outback look. She lost all of her powers, and was completely useless in a fight. She was no longer mean, but rather simple, happy, and stupid.
She was supposed to know everything about traveling and stuff, and be a tour guide for the other characters. But she was dumb as a brick. Really naive.
Which is why I liked pairing her up with Shadow for missions. >D

I still like this phase, but I think her potential this way was limited. I've got a lot more ideas for her present form than I did with this one.

6th gen - PRESENT DAY! HUZZAH.
I played around with the idea of Kira working for Robotnik, and the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. She's "the Queen of the Badniks," and she's in charge of all the leftover badniks that Sonic hasn't smashed up. She has a ranch where she keeps them all, and she can call them out in battle.
She has a black cowboy hat, and everyone knows the bad guys wear black hats. She also sprouted a braid that she may or may not actually have. I usually include it because it's cute, but it's more of a time-progression thing. She still has the bob, but later on, she grows her hair out long.
Her personality is still kind of simple; she is relatively easy to please and gets along with everybody. She likes to party and tell stories, but she's got enough know-how about the world to be respectful of others.
But she's still kind of dumb. x3

This one's my favorite. That may change one day, but right now, I REALLY love this design. I like what I can do with the badniks, with her being an affable villain, with her similar backstory to Shadow's, yet having an entirely different personality... I like all the options. And I like that she has no powers. It really helps you focus on plot and character development when your character has no powers.

Yikes, that's a lot of writing! I'll give you a cookie if you actually read it all! XD
