the thirty houre famine is an event sponsored by World Vision. ur school signs up and then yeah, ur school does a 30 hour famine.
how it works is:
everyone must raise a minimum of X dollars (X equalled 50 for my school) to participate.
all the people who've raised that much money stay after school on one friday and during the night there's tons of events and a talent show and we also got to go to an amusement park at 2 in the morning. basically it's a giant sleepover but u don't have to sleep. i stayed up all night long.
the next morning at around six (after 30 hours are up) they serve a big pancake breakfast.
there are ofcourse many prizes for people who raise more than 50 dollars or w/e.
and yeah all the money raised goes to world vision, to a country in need of our choice.
the money provides them with medical services, water and food.
we raised...uhm...150 000 i think, or somethign like that.

That's cool my school didn't do it but I don't think I could have made it 30 hours.@_@I can barely make between the time I eat dinner and the time I eat breakfast normally I'm starving by then.XDI'm glad you guys made alot of money some countries really need it.

yeah they SERIOULSY need it...
and during the 30 hours ur allowed to drink water and juice.
no gatorade or meal replacement shakes or things like that, cuz they actually have vitamins and a bunch of stuff, you know what i mean.
and ur so busy during the night that u dont' really notice the hunger
but if u do start feeling faint or w/e u get a small bowl of rice to eat.
and if ur diabetic or something where u need to eat then yeah u get rice too or if that's too little then yeah u get an exception made.

my sister used to be borderline, but then she got her pills sorted out and her insuline levels went back to normal. yeah.
