Description
The dismissal bell rang in the distance as I walked to my car. HBH had a thorough mixing of all types but, of course, you could never expect the kids with Jags and Beamers to associate with anyone "below" them. Sadly, I fell into the money category; I drove a shiny, new, black Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG and wore strictly name brand to compliment my "perfect" personality. The back row of the lot looked like a foreign car dealership with the continuous line of expensive imports: Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, and Rolls. Each extravagant car was at the mercy of a completely oblivious, money laden, teenager.I slid into the plush leather and dropped the top back before looking at the lot. The swarm of bodies hummed incessantly as I started the engine of my lavish sports car. A few people approached the cars beside me and offered a quiet greeting as I put on a pair of designer aviators.
"Are you still going with us to the Pier Katie?" Kane smiled at me from his Escalade.
"No, my mom texted me about some runway she wanted me to hit with her." Lies kept our mini society afloat.
"Oh, then I guess I'll see you tomorrow." He frowned.
Kane was the typical jock in saying that he assumed anything female adored him. In most cases he would have assumed correct, but I was an exception; I would rather down in bleach than be in contact with him.
I drove down the lot seeing that most everyone was clear of my path. I stopped with enough space for Jimmy to back out and flashed my lights once. He took the hint and lead out way out of the lot him his absolutely breath taking black '69 Mustang.
The tiny, inconspicuous pizza show was totally packed, with a line out the door and no one I knew in sight. Jimmy got out of his car and smiled at me as I killed the engine.
"Hey, I hope you're cool with avoiding the Pier. I'm not much for crowds." He smiled shyly.
"I don't buy it; this place is totally packed." I laughed looking at the multiplying line.
"I've got connections; let's go." He led me through a side door into an empty party room.
I couldn't help but marvel at his body. His chestnut hair framed his care carefully but the back was cut shorter and spiked in all directions. His forever long arms and legs were perfectly toned and seemed to work in an awkwardly graceful style. He was now wearing glasses that framed those most wonderful, aqua orbs and balanced the weight his high, rounded cheeks set in contrast. Jimmy had an off canter beauty to him that continued to draw me in. Not to mention, he looks damn good in his basketball uniform and underarmor.
Inside, the place was crawling with people. Every table was filled with smiling faces and starving bodies. Jimmy grabbed my hand in an attempt not to lose me in the crowd and led me across the room to a table with three other boys sitting there. These boys did not look like my type. They all wore black and band shirt with unnaturally colored hair. I was completely put off by their looks, let alone their personalities. I had no idea how or why Jimmy would bring me to these people.
"Jimmyyyy! What the fuck took so long?" a tanned boy with chocolate eyes yelled.
"I didn't leave early like all of you; dickhead." He laughed taking the stool beside the tan boy.
I took the only remaining seat between Jimmy and a smaller boy with black, purple, and blonde hair and the greenest eyes. He smiled shyly and the black rings through his lip rubbed against his teeth. I tried to muster a smile but I was totally put off by all of these strangers.
"Dude, who the hell is she and why does she look like Zacky stinks?" the supremely muscular boy laughed looking at Jimmy and I.
"Zacky probably does offend and this is Katie; I beat her up before fourth block today." He laughed happily.
"Hey; I'm probably the cleanest one out of any of us, you guys are fucking gross." The green eyed boy, I assumed was Zacky, interjected.
"Maybe Zacky, maybe." The muscular boy laughed, "Now I'm hungry so let's get pizza!"
The waitress walked over and smiled at everyone taking out orders. Her unnaturally black hair hung just above her shoulders in unblended layers and her smooth skin held the slightest olive tint. She was by no means conventionally pretty, by my standards. And the way her and "muscles" acted she is definitely one of them.
"And drinks?" she smiled after writing down our food.
"Beer!" all of the boys yelled together.
"Guys, if I lose my job you're paying for your own shit." She laughed.
"Vallll!" Zacky whined.
"Shut up Zack; you're all getting beer." She then turned to me, "And what would you like to drink?"
"A Coke is fine." I smiled slightly.
"Okay, I'll be right back." She then left quickly.
As the other boys conversed I spoke quietly to Jimmy.
"Are these guys your friends Jimmy?" I demanded in a whispered.
"Of course! They're practically my brothers; why?" his aqua eyes shined with wonder.
"You're so different from them. They're, like, freaks and you're a jock." I whined
"You think I'm a jock?" Well, we all are, in one way or another, but I guess, technically, I'm a 'freak' first. I'd rather be behind a drum set than on the court. What's so wrong with what we look like anyway?" he asked with critical eyes.
"I don't know Jimmy. I've never been seen with anyone less than perfect. Being seen with them would ruin my reputation." I tried to reason with him.
"Then leave; I'm not stopping you. Run back to the friends that call you an inbred hick. They're such good friends anyway." His eyes had narrowed to black slits making him look dangerous and cruel.
"They never say that kind of stuff about me. God, you're such an ass Jimmy. I'm out." I rose from my seat and made my way towards the door.
"Hey, nice meeting you. You should come around with Jim more often." Val smiled touching my arm lightly.
I just shook my head and walked away hiding my face. I burst through the door and ran to my car, slamming the door and dropping my face into my hands. People were so cruel; did they really say those things about me? Why had Jimmy turned on me so fast?
