Description
Everyone was on a mission. The night was young but already we were growing hopeless. We had to find her and she had to be perfect. The boys had been scouring the clubs for months and coming up empty handed every night."She's not here. I just don't feel it. Remind me, what happens if we fail?" Christ squinted up at me.
"We fuck up and shit still goes down. Bad shit, like life ending shit. This has to happen. We'll find her." I frowned leaving the club through the back door.
Where was she?
-EK's POV-
It had started pouring and there was nowhere to hide. It seeped through my layers of clothing and the cold settled in my bones. At the end of the block the iridescent light of a Wal-Mart called me forward. I sprinted for the doors and got several disdainful glares.
Inside it was cold, but anything was better than a night in the rain again. I wandered up and down the aisles in the food section until I found what I was looking for. Oddly enough, the cookies and vodka were across from each other. I picked up some of each and migrated into clothing. After selecting several new items I ducked into the dressing rooms and de-tagged my keep.
The knocking was that awoke me.
Fuck! Escape, escape! I picked up my backpack and stuffed everything inside before hopping over several stalls and taking off. The sleep still clouded my vision but I knew where the exit was and that was my goal.
I had run halfway across the parking lot before I stopped. I wasn't tired I was just curious. No one was behind me and it was still drizzling just enough to dampen my shirt; no weather to sleep in. I decided to wander I got "home."
Home was an old fire escape out back of the club Nowhere. The pounding music was what made me feel safe. Well, as safe as a girl can feel living on the streets.
Out front the line wrapped around the block which was strange for 1 am. I quietly passed close, to listen to the gossip.
"Oh my god Zoey I am so excited! We have to get inside tonight. Avenged Sevenfold is in there!" some slut squealed.
Hmm, doesn't ring a bell. They must have gotten popular after I dropped off the face of the planet. Oh well, that's all irrelevant, I just want to go home.
No one paid me any mind as I walked around the side of the building. The fire escape was looking as dry as ever. I could see my house perched outside the sixth floor exit door. Everything looked perfect to me.
The sounds from the club missed with the city surrounding, in a very calming swirl of chaos. I'd frown to love the seclusion and sounds of Nowhere. Living there was a lot like my life was before the unraveling.
But home was my only safety. No one ever came out back and I was left in comfortable solitude. But something was missing in my life and it picked at the corners of my frail sanity incessantly.
-End POV-
"But I can feel her Gates. She's gotta be here!" Vengeance whispered across the room.
Shadows was pacing anxiously from the window to the table. Time was getting to short, we couldn't just sit around and wait; especially if we were wrong.
