In all seriousness though, I believe this flag bearer meme is an accurate depiction of the current state of the major young adult genre franchises.

As you can see, the Harry Potter franchise is doing very well for itself, with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them being released soon.

The Hunger Games franchise (represented here by Katniss Everdeen) is doing similarly well, finishing relatively strong despite Mockingjay's staggered release in two parts, and there is talk within Lionsgate about sequels or prequels in the franchise .

Meanwhile, the Divergent series (represented by a caricature of Tris Prior) is not doing so hot; the third movie bombed at the box office, and the fourth and final movie will not even get a theatrical release , and will instead be a television movie--meaning that some actors may not even stay on, due to contracts only specifying theatrical releases. However, the representation of the series here still holds a flag, as hope may not be lost; Divergent could find new life as a television series.

The Maze Runner franchise is also not doing well, as one of the principal actors for the film series was severely injured on set, and the movies have been premiering to tepid reviews.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little cartoon that I made, because I am a fan of both The Hunger Games and Harry Potter among other YA franchises. I will admit it was rather hastily done, and I basically came up with it on the fly. There are very few instances of shading, and this is meant to reflect the way the 4Chan flag-bearer meme is drawn--very simply, and mostly in MS Paint. Observe.
