Description Name: Blood Golem

Size: big.

Rarity: these enormous rock creatures avoid any kind of water, especially large bodies. They like to keep to the mountains where they can easily blend in with their surrounding, more specifically near large caves and overhangs where they seek shelter from the rain.

Strength: as the joint bindings of naturally occurring golems are magical in nature, they are practically indestructible, as such, the strength of any golem is limited only by the strength of the material it is made from. As blood golems generally form from sedimentary boulders, they are incredibly strong, however, blunt force strikes from an object made of stronger stone or metal can chip away at them, causing them to diminish in size and strength over time.

Weapons/Defenses: stone body. Some golems have been known to carry carved stone or wooden clubs.

Weakness: traditional weapons have little immediate effect on Blood Golems, and are generally considered useless, magic of any kind on the other hand can weaken the joint bindings and cause any naturally occurring golem to temporarily fall apart. Because they are made from sedimentary stones, water will steadily erode a Blood Golems body over time, while this isn’t a viable weapon per se, it is still a good thing to keep in mind while fighting, fleeing, and especially while avoiding them.

Info: formed from stones that have been washed in magic laced blood, (such as that of the sorcerously inclined, elves, or other mystical creatures,) blood golems draw sustenance by bathing in blood. While animal blood will suffice, human blood is particularly satisfying, and magic laced blood, like that which created them, is especially sought after as it can be used to add additional stones to their bodies, aid in the development of intelligence, and over time impart to them supernatural powers of their own.

Initially a pixel drawing, 168x272 to be precise, I blew the image up, did some blurring and posterization to the layers, then several rounds of blurring, doubling up, aa assisting, and aliasing the outline to smooth the "steps" left by the fact that it was originally a pixel image. After all of that, I copied it to flash cs3, where I vectorized the image and exported back out as a .png, at which point it was back to pDn for some texture layers.

The original pixel drawing was done so over a manipulation I had made using photos of rocks I acquired from the wikimedia commons, I can't remember which all images I used, and I'm pretty sure they were free to use, but at this point I don't really think it matters, as they were only used as reference and none of the photos themselves exist anywhere in the final image.

Texture was my own personal stock.

If you would like to see the original pixel drawing, it can be found here in the Kongregate Arts & Sounds section (formerly known as the Collabs.)
