A presence affixed itself to those waters. Darker than the depths from which it inhabited, periodically it would thrive above its prison, snaking and swerving, hissing and curling; its calls would drive every living thing nearby to its wake. Every bird, every cat, every mouse, every rat, it would emit something to them that would drive them to suicide, drowning themselves, sealing their fate in a watery grave composed of thousands of skeletal bodies all condemned with the same fate.
