Description Carth's hand trembled as he stared at the GG soldier groaning on the ground, their back leaning up against a brick wall.

Kill him. They hurt!

Carth was blind again as Ebbe looked down, and he could feel that anger growing, rising, burning in his chest. He felt his head turn down to the gun he grabbed from the soldier in his hands, the side cracked from where he hit it earlier, but still in functioning condition.

They hurt us, they want to kill!

Us... Carth shook his head, but he still couldn't see. He felt his arm raising and to stick out the laser pistol towards where he heard the soldier moaning on the ground. Why did they always come after him? He just wants to be normal again, but the demon in his back wouldn't stop whispering in his mind, making him change and lash out at everyone. The GG knew he was infected and chased him down... but he panicked. The fear turned into fury and he hit this man down and knocked another one out... or at least he thought he did. He heard nothing from the guy laying motionless on the ground.

The pistol shook as Carth's mind was wrapped in black coils, his eyes feeling a bit hot as emotion flooded through him. They... always... chased him. He couldn't be normal, even if he tried. He was as good as cursed, and this headache just wouldn't die or stay quiet. Ebbe wasn't controlling his body, he was feeding Carth his anger; the wild, untamed instinct his kind were best known for.

His hand shook as he felt his finger slowly pull on the trigger--

Suddenly the pistol was ripped out of his hand with violent force, hurting his wrist and causing him to yell in surprise. Automatically he snarled defensively and ripped out his switchblade with his good hand to squeeze at his side. Carth could see a little more from the shock since it startled Ebbe more, and he noticed a GG soldier standing there with the gun pointed straight at him, staring down the scope. Suddenly, the soldier cocked his gun down slowly with his head raising up. Carth clenched his stunned hand over and over to get feeling back into it as he was preparing to charge when the guard lowered his gun.

"...Carth?"

That... voice...

"...Is that you?"

Immediately the darkness in his eyes vanished as did his grim snarl, and Carth stood there, stupefied. The guard reached a hand up and stuck his finger inside a small indent in the helmet, and immediately the green visor popped up.

Carth's legs suddenly felt weak. "...Jared?"

The soldier's light brown eyes looked at him in utter shock, his mouth hanging open. His eyelids started to look a bit red with a light glaze over his eyes, but he kept himself together. He swallowed hard, huffing a single chuckle with a twitch of a smile, but he kept staring at Carth.

The way he stared now... it was no longer glad. Carth could sense something else, and when he smiled and went to take a step forward, Jared quickly raised his gun back up, freezing Carth in his tracks. "Jared," Carth chuckled, breathless and shaken with a bit of... fearful joy. "I-It's me. It's really me."

Jared swallowed heavily and was really fighting to keep his gun up from pointing at his friend. He shook his head a bit, and adjusted his hold. "Why did you attack these men?"

Carth knew the answer, but for some reason the question surprised him. He felt incredibly nervous to the point where he couldn't speak, a burning feeling spreading over his face with guilt. He saw Jared look down at the motionless man, and his eyelids gave a fluttered jerk before he steadied his gun a little more.

"Did you kill him, Carth?"

Carth felt scared. He couldn't speak, couldn't form words or even move his body. The man on the wall then grunted as he tried to sit up, somewhat recovering from an almost deadly throw to the wall.

"..Y-yes," the guard said with an unclear voice, breathing rattled. The visor popped open as he was struggling to breathe.

Carth's eyes went wide and snapped his head around to Jared, who was staring horror struck at the other guard. His jaw suddenly clenched and the lowering gun popped back up with steady aim, carefully stepping forward.

"I can't believe it," Jared said stiffly, his voice cracking as the glaze in his eyes became more noticeable. "My God... they've turned you into a monster."

Carth took a step back stiffly, his legs almost frozen in place. "I-I didn't mean to!"

"Carth," Jared pleaded, his voice cracking again as he was swallowing heavy and hard. He breathed in rigid as he stared at his brother, trying to calm the overflow of emotions. "Damn it Carth!" he growled, shaking the gun as his face was turning red with anger.

Carth took a few steps back when Jared started to take quicker and larger steps forward until Carth's back hit a wall. He then raised his hands up. "No man, please!"

Jared stopped a few feet before Carth, the gun shaking as the soldier was having a hard time trying to keep his vision clear. "Dam'mit Carth." He then paused for what seemed like minutes. "That day... we thought you died, Carth." Jared drummed his fingers once on the gun timidly. "All we found... were your clothes. They... they were all shredded up and bloody, and those damn infected were everywhere. I'm sorry for leaving you behind... I-I didn't think..." Jared closed his eyes tightly and breathed through his nose, tears gathering up around his eyes before he opened them again and stared at Carth. "It's been over a year."

"I-I tried to find you guys,"
Carth stuttered, swallowing very frequently. "B-But you were gone."

Jared, for a moment, tightened his hold on his gun as a rage flowed through him. "We left that day, because we thought those things would be after us. I joined the GG days later, because I thought we could find you... you know... and help you. But now, it's too la-" Jared's voice cracked at the end, so he huffed through his nose and mouth to keep himself from falling apart. Carth was having trouble as well, but it was mostly fear as he stared back at his brother. "But it's too late. You killed a man, Carth."

"They attacked me! I was defending myself!"
Carth barked, but the strength in his voice was failing him. He sounded frightened, scared, and terrified. He took a few steps forward, but Jared kept a very firm posture and when Carth saw his finger shoot for the trigger, his heart leaped. "Jared, please! It was an accident!"

"Don't come any closer. I don't--"

"What are you gonna do, shoot me?!"
When Jared didn't answer, Carth's body started to tremble. When Jared was set on something... he went all the way through with it, even if he didn't like it.

"Carth... I'm sorry."

A fat tear rolled down Carth's cheek unknowingly. He patted his chest as he took another step. "It's still me! My god Jared, listen to me!"

"I was too late..."
Jared breathed in deeply before sighing shakily. "I-I-I couldn't save you. God damn it, I'm sorry... I'm sorry..."

"J-Jared...!"
Carth was really trembling, but Jared continued to calm himself, even though his eyes kept blurring over. "Would you fucking see it's me!"

"I saw you throw the man against the wall Carth... I saw you raise that pistol at him. That parasite inside of you... it's controlling your actions. Damn it, b-bastard, it's controlling you too much."

Carth went to take a step back, but his leg only shifted an inch in the gravel.  "I-It was... Oh G-God Jared, don't shoot... please!"

Jared's gun was now starting to shake when Carth's voice broke, and he stood there, watching his brother's face streaming with tears. Carth was on his way down to becoming feral, he knew it. The way he was just about to shoot that man... he was really going to do it.

"This is the only way I can save you..."

"Please... please don't shoot... Jared--"

"Carth... I'm so sorry."
His finger squeezed for the trigger, and Carth moved quickly forward.

"JARED NO!"

A loud crack filled the air.

This is very well written and I love how you managed to fit in such a large amount of angst. I feel sorry for Carth, though. Keep up the excellent writing, Kim(can I call you that or is it too informal?); I promise to read every single story.

You can call me whatever you want. I don't mind informalities. :3

Thank you so much! It was just an idea that was sitting in the back of my head for a long while so I just had to write some of it out. Still not super sure if an event like this will happen but I'll just see how it goes.

Glad you enjoyed the read!

Lol I'm stillllllll deciding whether or not to have this happen. If I do end up making this happen, I want Carth to have a lot of close friends, and someone to save him possibly.
