Description
I was browsing old material in my gallery and I decided to spend an hour retouching a drawing I did back in 2003. You can see the original hereI altered her face, glasses, hair, minor line detail, and added texture, lighting, blurring, smudging, and color adjustments.
This image is copyright myself, however feel free to do any interpretations of this or the original -- just follow deviant art's "no porn" rules. And no commercial or for-profit uses without my consent please. Thanks!

First, copy the layer, add a small amount of gaussian to the top layer and select the overlay layer transition. Play around with the levels and the opacity of the layer. I added some outer edge blurring to soften it afterwards. There was also some desaturation and a semi-transparent layer of color to warm things up a touch. I know it's way late of a response, but I hope that helps.
