Description Sean Irons was never in want of a sense of identity. As a young man, he felt a strong sense of connection to his community in the mining town of Gaibhne, as well as to his own ancestry—the latter thanks in no small part to his grandfather, who was vocally proud of the Irons family's Irish heritage. This sense of community made the young Sean want to give back to the town and its people, who had long struggled with institutional neglect and a lack of funding for health and social care from the civic government—starting him on the path that would lead him to become a Contract Rider .

Rather than attending college, Sean enrolled in the Standing Flower Rider Stables, an institution focused on training and supporting Contract Riders. The intelligent and athletic Sean excelled in his training, and soon caught the attention of Tupac Huaman and Mostafa Tlalib, aka Inti and Ziggurat : a duo of veteran Contract Riders contracted to Ringfort Resource Extraction, who provided security to Gaibhne's mine. At their recommendation, when Sean graduated he was immediately hired onto their team under his new identity: Contract Rider Dolmen.

Under the mentorship of Ziggurat and Inti, Sean was paired with another new hire: Tamsin Neagh, Contract Rider Rhombopteryx , who used a similar fossil-based Rider system to Dolmen. The two found they formed a natural "Double Rider" partnership, their strengths complementing each other in combat, and their professional relationship soon blossomed into romance. Dolmen became popular among the people of Gaibhne for his workman's attitude and warm heart, and participated in multiple forms of community outreach, including recording safety PSAs for kids using Elysium's transport system.

Tragedy struck when, less than two years into Sean's Rider career, Inti was killed during the Cave Lion Geister's attack on the mine; an official Ringfort autopsy declared it an unfortunate accident, his suit respirator having experienced a catastrophic failure. Despite the grief that Sean and Tamsin felt for the loss of their mentor, and Mostafa for the loss of his long-time partner, the three tried to keep going in Tupac's memory; Mostafa was promoted to head of security, while Dolmen and Rhombopteryx combined their skills and philosophies to protect the mines, the town and its people.

This peace was shattered three years later when Sean discovered the coverup of "K-lung", a horrific disease afflicting residents of Gaibhne that caused them to turn to stone from the inside out—apparently, the true cause of Inti's death. Faced with the implication that mining K-stones killed people, Sean and Tamsin kept the truth a secret as they tried, and failed, to agree what to do; and when Sean was unexpectedly offered the opportunity to transfer to Ringfort's corporate offices in Elysium City proper, he took it out of desperation, believing that by gaining popularity he could bring the public's attention onto the problems facing Gaibhne. Tamsin saw this as effectively running away from the problem, arguing that the crowded field of Contract Riders in the city would cause the opposite effect... and when the two failed to agree, the result was a messy breakup and the end of their Double Rider partnership.

A year later, Sean's life had fallen apart. As Tamsin predicted, he had failed to gain any real public attention in the city; he felt isolated and miserable, and his new job role was stifling and unfulfilling—not least because of the obnoxious, faux-friendly managerial style of Senan Lexley, his office manager. The only place in the city where he actually felt at home was Magillycuddy's, a local pub run by Mairéad Loughlan; formerly the raven-themed Contract Rider Coven, Mairéad was one of Sean's only friends, and the only person who he felt he could talk to about "Rider stuff". With his depression and anger building up, Sean took the fight to protect the city from Golgom as an outlet for his pain... and even with new friends and allies at his side, he has struggled to pull himself back from the edge.

Dolmen uses a "Fossiliser" Rider System: a variant of Biorider technology using DNA extracted from fossils, intended to be less volatile than traditional Bioriders. Sean's belt, the Ailwee Driver, contains at its core a genetic sample of an extinct cave bear, granting his Rider form incredible strength and endurance.  For additional versatility, Dolmen can use Strata Disks created from samples of rock to alter the stone surrounding the fossil, granting him alternate forms and armaments. In Gaibhne, Sean used a standard-issue Ringfort quad bike, but upon moving to the city he switched to a more street-friendly chopper called the Machine Hibernator.

  • Dolmen is a heavyweight fighter who uses enemies' mass against them, using throws and suplexes to put foes in their place. His suit incorporates Ringfort-developed gravitational generators that he can channel into his strikes, weighing foes down to immobilise them. Notable moves used by Dolmen include the Burren Buster, a German suplex, and the Lisdoon Laceration, an Irish whip that can be chained into a claw attack; his signature finishing move is the Dolmen Drop, a powerful drop kick that crushes opponents beneath their own weight with a localised gravity well.
Re-genesis! Kaseki no fear láidir! Dolmen!
  • Karst Strata — Using the Karst Strata Disk, Dolmen takes on the power of limestone-rich terrain, exchanging his normal clawed gauntlets for a set of limestone talons designed to pierce and sunder enemy defenses. Its finishing move, Karst Crisis, focuses energy into the claws to crack the foe's armor from the inside out. Despite its powerful claws, Sean isn't fond of this form as it isn't well-suited to his fighting style, and its reduced defenses mean he's been injured more than once using it.
Dia-genesis! Sekkaigan no Crúb! Karst Dolmen!
  • Shale Strata — With the Shale Strata Disk, Dolmen obtains armor formed from plates of sedimentary rock, rich in organic matter. In addition to boosting his natural defenses, Shale Dolmen can manifest energy shields in the form of invertebrate fossils to push through enemy attacks. This form's finisher is Shale Shockwave, which generates two shields over Dolmen's palms before slamming them together to create a destructive energy wave.
Diagenesis! Dubh le Suizoku! Shale Dolmen!

After a tip-off from Hannah Shirogane that Marianne Chaumet was a murderer, Sean discovered a shocking fact: Senan Lexley, who Sean had thought to be just a corporate stooge, was in fact a radical agitator who had organised Sean's transfer in the hope of recruiting him to fight against Marianne Chaumet and her followers. To help him in this task, Senan offered Sean the powerful KT Strata Disk... but all this was only half the truth. In truth, the KT disk can only work if fuelled by the user's intense feelings of anger and misery, and the oppressive work environment and obnoxious management that he had forced Sean to endure for the past year had been carefully planned to turn Dolmen into the perfect resentment-driven super-soldier.

  • KT Strata — Powered by the fossilised resentment of a hundred thousand dead dinosaurs, KT Dolmen possesses incredible power and resilience at the cost of amplifying Sean's emotions a hundredfold, turning him into a vicious, rage-driven berserker. As well as granting Dolmen incredible physical power, KT Strata can summon skeletal dinosaurs to lash out at his enemies and enhance his attacks. KT Dolmen's finishing move is the Ennistymon Extinction; Dolmen hurls his foe into the jaws of a skeletal tyrannosaurus, which in turn throws the target into the path of a mighty drop kick. Foes hit by this kick are forced to relive the K–T extinction as their bodies are crushed into the ground and smothered in suffocating ash.
Parthenogenesis! Danger! Danger! Extinction Event! Céad mhíle shinda kyōryū! KT Dolmen!
  • Drachenloch Dolmen — With Sean's realisation that his actions as KT Dolmen were hurting the people he cared about, he decided something had to change, though he wasn't sure what. In the battle with the Medusa Geister, he was able to pull something from the monster's body: the Drachenloch Refiner, an add-on for his Ailwee Driver that filters and refocuses the power of the KT Strata Disk. The resulting high-speed anomalous avenger can manipulate gravity to move faster than the eye can see (Dolmen Go Tobann), though overuse of this power takes a toll on his body. The calcified resentment that KT Dolmen had been armoured in was reformed into his new weapon, the Chicxulub Shillelagh Super Shotgun, an enormous three-barrelled cannon that can be loaded with Dolmen's Strata Disks to change its type of fire. Drachenloch Dolmen's finisher is the Ivy Cliff Obliteration, striking the target from multiple angles and using unstable gravity to drag them into the path of his drop kick.
Drachenloch engage! [Warning! Warning! Dolmen Event!] Jakumaku no aigraitheoir aimhrialta! Drachenloch Dolmen! Ar d'anam na minogasuna!

Though he had found a new filter and outlet for his rage and frustration, Sean's feelings continued to boil within him, and he would recklessly throw himself into harm's way in battle; when Senan made his ultimate gambit to claim the god-like power of Ultraman Caesar , Sean was left playing catch-up, with no plan for moving forward. It was only after Sean reconciled with Tamsin, and had an emotional meeting with a vision of Inti in a metaphysical thought-space, that Sean came to recognise the chain of events that had brought him to where he was, accepting his flaws and his actions as part of himself. Thus, during the final battle with Ultraman Caesar, when the time was right, Sean was able to manifest the Dolmen Trifossilis: a triskelion-shaped disk representing Sean's new, holistic understanding of himself and his place in the world.

  • Dagda Dolmen — The ultimate expression of Dolmen both as technology and as an idea, Dagda Dolmen brings Sean's mastery of gravity to its peak. By using gravitational lensing, he can bend light itself into the Armagh Hordebreaker, a powerful energy beam that sends foes' powers out of control; the Lisdoon Lagrange Point lets him restrain enemies at range and distort space to dictate the distance between himself and his target; and he can even distort time itself, slowing it down or even reversing it. Not only that, but Dagda Dolmen can even manipulate the gravity of souls that binds people together through the zeitgeist, pulling them into a communal psychic space of shared understanding. If this fails to grant his opponents perspective, however, he can eliminate them with the Dagda Dolmen Drop: throwing them into the pull of a singularity, which accelerates them into the path of an almighty drop kick. These singularities lead to a location echoing Sean's subconscious needs, and he has little active control over the destination.
Dolmen, dig deep! [Fear not. The Gaibhne Event has happened, is happening, and will happen again.] Tuatha Dé-genesis! Kaseki no fear laidir, soshite sono saki e! Kaishuntekina singulteacht kara, cothromaíocht no touji ni terashitekuru! Choudaishitsuryou no Ollgluaisrothaí Sono na wa! Contract Rider! Dagda! Dolmen! Zettai, ní beidh ocras oraibh.

Dolmen is the best character in Contract Riders. I don't say this lightly; it's the unanimous consensus of every player, and everyone who listened in on our sessions. M0hairSam , who played Sean, did so with a perfect mix of comedy, pathos, and really damn cool moments; Dolmen is an incredibly well-realised character with great thematic and emotional depth. As a result of how cool he is, everyone bullies him relentlessly in and out of character (mostly by making fun of him for being divorced), because he simply has too much cred .
For reference, Dolmen's form jingles are all in a mixture of Japanese and Irish, akin to Gaim's mixture of Japanese and English. Respectively: "The fossil strongman! Dolmen!", "Limestone claw! Karst Dolmen!", "Packed with sea-life! Shale Dolmen!", "One hundred thousand dead dinosaurs! KT Dolmen!", "The high-speed anomalous avenger! Drachenloch Dolmen! Don't you dare miss it!", and (deep breath) "The fossil strongman, and what lies beyond! Shining forth from the singularity of repent on the solstice of balance! The supermassive All-Rider! His name is! Contract Rider! Dagda! Dolmen! There’s no way you’ll go hungry.".

Dolmen's base and KT forms were designed by Speed_Freak01 , while I designed the Karst and Shale Strata forms.

If you'd like to hear more about Sean, you can listen to his guest episode on The Home for Wayward OCs podcast , where Sam talks about his experience playing the character!
