[Species] Ink Cat (Feles atramento)

[Habitat] Ink Cats like to live in damp environments. They can usually be found near any body of water. The reason they live near water is to keep their ink wet. If they do not do this, their ink will create a hard shell and make it very hard for the Ink Cat to move, eventually leading to death. Another reason is because their main food source lives in/ near the water. Ink Cats like to live in dark places such as caves and between tree roots.

[Appearance] Every Ink Cat is unique, therefore there are many different Appearances one can take on (See Fig. 1 ). Ink Cats are usually very small, standing at about 14 inches tall, 22 Inches when standing on their hind legs, and 32 inches long when fully extended (From nose to tail-tip).

An Ink Cats fur color can vary from Black, white, or an extremely light/dark color. They also have a coat of ink on their paws, therefore resulting in the name ‘Ink Cat’. The ink can be virtually any color, but usually corresponds to the color of the eyes. Ink Cats have a long, slender tail that curls at the end. Straightened out, the tail is measured at 15 inches long. The color of the tail is usually the same color as the eyes.

Ink Cats have two very large Oval shaped eyes that are used to see in murky/dark water. At first glance, it appears that an Ink Cat has no mouth. They do in fact have mouths, they just have it covered up to reduce damage to the inside. Ink Cats rarely open their mouth, but when they do, it is a very strange sight. It will almost look as if the mouth is tearing through the skin (See Fig. 2 ), but don’t worry; this in no way harms the Ink Cat. The inside of the mouth contains I top and bottom row of small sharp teeth and very big canine teeth (See Fig. 3 ) They also appear at first glance to have no ears. Again, they do have them, but they are internal, therefore you can’t see them.

[DIET] Ink Cats are a carnivorous species. They will eat anything that lives in/near the water, but their main food source are Fish.

[OFFSPRING] Ink Cats belong to the Classified Order Monotremata, which means they are mammals that lay eggs. Ink Cat eggs are about 4 inches tall and 3 inches wide. The outer shell of the egg is the same color as the off springs eyes. The yolk of the egg is the same color as the off springs ink. (See Fig.4 ) Female Ink Cats can only lay 1 to 2 eggs per fertilization. The eggs will hatch within about 35 days after being laid. The hatched offspring will be about 4 inches long. The color of the offspring will depend on the parents’ appearance (Ex: the color of the Ink will be the color of the parents ink mixed together.) Ink Cat kittens will grow from a baby to an adult in about 10 months

[LIFE EXPECTANCY ] 11 to 14 years if the Ink Cat is healthy.
