This is just for me.Β Β This is actually the first costume I wanted to make.Β Β But IΒ knew at the time that I wasn't good enought yet to pull it off.Β So finishing this is almost proving something to myself
Β
I will be sellig blank kits of my helmet in the future.

Are those LEDs you put in a tube or is it like.. LED rope??Β

SKSProps In reply to CosplayInABox [2014-02-07 03:40:43 +0000 UTC]
No rope, just individual LEDs sanded and hand painted to get the right color.

I hope I'm not bothering you, but sanded?? Like, you literally just sanded the surface of the LED? That's really interesting. I ask because I'm trying to get a somewhat similar effect for glowing plant stems.Β
Can you use just any translucent paint?Β

Yep, I sanded each LED by handΒ to difuse the light and make the surface able to accept the paint.

Now, this is impressive. It really looks like metal. What did you make it from?

The rig is made up of wonderflex and styrene (basically plastics) they were cut then heat formed to fit the shape of my back.Β The paint job is 3 different types of rattle can spray paints.Β I still need to go in and weather it with acrylics.
