At least with a phone call you hear the tone of the person's voice and fit words to their implication.

When you speak to a person it is easier to observe their body language,
see the expression on their face and the movements they make in response to the words spoken.
So when a what you are trying to convey in a typed message is misunderstood,
it becomes extremely frustrating when you're misconstrued or cannot express your feelings accurately.

There is more of a connection in speaking in person, sometimes people need to get off their computers
and cellphones to just go and have coffee with a friend of spend some quality time with family.
