Description
I'm taking in the influences of the German Surrealist artist Max Ernst (1891-1976). He was famous for using a technique called frottage where a paper was placed on a rough surface (wood, stone, bricks, panelling, etc) and rubbed over with graphite, crayon, etc. I decided to try it myself and rubbed some colored chalk over wooden panels on my floor. The above image was interesting. It reminded me of an ancient temple. So I enhanced the chalk rubbing with some pen lines and dubbed the work "Parthenon" after the Greek structure.
