This shouldn't have been made, as I'm supposed to being doing a page view reward for Moonshimmer, but I don't have an idea formed yet and I stumbled upon the background and was struck by muse. The background blending is a little funky, but I think its ok.
And I'm super proud of those light rays as I totally created them by hand, no brushes. The only pre-made brush used was the snow spray as I couldn't draw one myself.
I originally wanted a kneeling horse, but decided that'd look weird with snow, and I like this better anyway. I'm very pleased with it in the end.
Oh! And the tail is a hybrid. Half smudged, half drawn. I think it worked out nicely. What say ye'?
At first glance maybe the lyrics don't fit, but to me they do. Interpret as you wish.

Getting an eye and skills for this stuff just takes time and tons of practice. Though, of course being somewhat obsessive compulsive and a perfectionist sure doesn't hurt. ;^D

Exactly, tons and tons of practice! A lot of people don't seem to get that, and when I take students who aren't crazy about practice I feel like beating them with my laptop. x^D So you're already a step ahead! You should have seen my images a little over a year ago, they were downright scary! I actually didn't really even figure out what smudging /was/ until sometime last year. I thought people got hairs in the mane and tails by using an eraser to make the shapes! Imagine try to do that (well, I did, didn't turn out great!) -shudders-.

You teach students? That's awesome! I know what you mean though. If you want a true manipulation you have to practice a lot and work on it forever.
lol! That's me as well. I used to not have adobe so I cropped using the lasso tool. I had no way to smudge. Then I recently learned about smudging. As for the mane and tail, before I had adobe I just cropped it - it looked terrible. I should delete all my old work. lol.

Wow... this is absolutely STUNNING. Everything looks so realistic; my favorite parts are the light beams, the snow spray, and the horse's tail. The background is beautiful, too.

That's amazing! The lyrics seem to fit the picture great. It's like the horse is running, and stumbling, away from something. His old life, maybe? I love it! It really inspires me.
